What?? I have been using Vonage for more than a year now... excellent service, haven't experienced any downtime or call cuts.. and works great with my 512kbps connection. $15 pm gives 500 min for parents to call from India, whereas I can call them for free using my nightime min from US.

I didn't downplay their service, I said it's not legal and you could get in trouble...

I have a query about earthcaller, If i make a call using earthcaller to a US [AT&T] mobile user what number does the cellphone display?

iirc it shows up as a US based landline.. also.. Earthcaller only allows calls to LandLines in the US.

No calls to Mobiles

I tried using earthcaller. i was able to hear my bro, but he wasn't able to hear me :( . is earthcaller paid now?

You were able to make a free call to the US ?? :S

Earthcaller was the only free way to talk to any US number. 'Twas working till as recently as last week. I believe it's gone paid just now..

Is your bro in the US?

Can someone confirm if Earthcaller has indeed gone paid?

EDIT: kooabs, you created an Earthcaller account to dial the num?

Yes. I had to create an account. Also created a account with VoipStunt. was able to talk for 8-9 min (then exhausted the free credit)
