Thought purists may say the match was boring and not interesting, I loved the discussion and analysis.

Gelfand was most prepared for this match compared to earlier opponents of Anand.

I had scare after anand lost one match initially. But he came back superbly and defeated gelfand in 17 moves which was stunning.

After that it was looking Anand will try to win within last two games of regular match with the advantage he had but he just let go it and waited for the tie breakers.

In tie breakers it was always Anand to b favourite but Gelfand fought brilliantly and gave a strong fight. It was time trouble which forced mistakes and Anand held his nerve together.

It seems Anand`s edge now looking slightly blunt compared to his competition, and he will be in risk of losing his crown if the next opponent is stronger.

Gelfand for his part, went on to say: "It was a very equal match. I had an edge in most of the rapid games but my problem was always my lack of time - I made blunders in the second and third games."

Anand is the best when it comes to rapid.
 
In 2010, he had to drive from Spain to Bulgaria, a distance of nearly 3000 kms across Europe, after the volcanic ash disrupted flights and the (challenger's) host country refused to delay the start, citing TV rights issues. He got to Sofia just in time -- and went on to win.​

I really admired his grit and talent when i read about it back when it happened. If only we had more followers of the game and enthusiasm as well.

There are a lot of followers of chess and the enthusiasm among youngsters is quite contagious as well. Just that apart from the knowledgeable few, most don't find it the best spectator sport/game around.
Anyways, great victory from Anand. Was sure of him winning when it came to rapid games for the tie-break. But all said and done, never expected Gelfand to put up the kind of show he did. Great homework and preparation from him/his team.

What hurts me most is no one appreciates the achievement of V. Anand, rather all day they talk about SRGay winning fixed GayPL :|
 
there was zero news coverage on the 12 game finals while the ipl was dissected ball by ball truly sad :(
