I'm getting good prices for MSI and Sparkle GTX 460 1 GB cards.

I'm buying locally but here are newegg links to both products:

Newegg.com - MSI N460GTX CYCLONE 1GD5/OC GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Newegg.com - SPARKLE SXX4601024D5UNM GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

I just want some feedback in terms of reliability. Can anyone comment on Sparkle VS MSI in terms of BQ? Pricing is same, warranty is identical. Was looking at ZOTAC, but their card seems to be at the bottom of the GTX 460 bunch, and I cannot wait for an AMP! Edition. Any advice/help would be greatly valued. Thanks :)

MSI seems to have the upper hand when it comes to quality in GFX market. Comparable to Asus and such.

It may be just me, but the MSI has 23 reviews out of them 87% seems to be really loving the card and remaining gave a minimum of 3*** rating, while the Sparkle doesnt have a single review, i believe there may have been other reasons, but not a single one. i think that speaks volumes.

P.S Not sure but i've read somewhere that sparkle is a sister concern of Palit or Zotac or visce versa.

I think you can wait for the AMP edition..has been in news lately...

Zotac AMPs its GTX 460 - Graphics - Graphics - Fudzilla

or else..cyclone it should be..the after market cooler does a good job in keeping the card both cool and silent..

moreover, i think the sparkle one will be difficult to find..
I think I'll wait for the AMP! Edition...I have had a great experience with ZOTAC, in terms of BQ. Thanks man...

^^Udit, I don't think the Gigabyte card is a very good buy, in SLI the inner card will likely fry...

^Getting one for now. I'll probably skip Westmere and go Sandy Bridge. Will most likely pick up another card (SLI) then. Unless something 30% faster releases for just 10% more...

MSI OC editions cards are pretty good usually- for stock use or even further overclocking.

Sparkle- err... no idea. :P

From what i have heard,

Most OCers are using Gigabyte Super Overclock series GTX460 or the MSI Cyclone edition iirc.

The ASUS Direct CU card is good too but not many have it afaik.

Only the Zotac and MSI Cyclone were available here iirc and the ASUS ones may be available very soon.

Locally, both MSI and Zotac seem to be out of stock when checked this weekend that went by.

Can you please mention the prices for the respective cards you were considering?

I have heard that ASUS will be releasing their cards at very competitive prices all over.

Some prices listed in a magazine recently, for a ASUS 5970 and Rampage III Extreme, were quite good actually- much lower than what some users were quoted or bought them at just sometime back.

Palit GTX460 1GB SONIC Platinum, best GTX460 out there

Please do let us know why you think so. :)

Also, please do provide links to reviews, benchmarks where it's compared against other cards.

wow what a deal in amazon for one of the best gtx460s Amazon.com: ASUS GTX460 1 GB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/1GD5 - Overclocking Edition: Electronics

damn why can we get gr8 stuff at such prices here :( :(

How much would that cost us shipped from Amazon?

While US-like hardware prices in India may still be a distant dream for most of us, i hope pricing for all computer stuff becomes more competitive soon.

Not so long ago, we did see a welcome change inpricing when the 8800GT/G92 cards were launched in India.

Local buyers got one for almost as much as or a little more than those who got theirs shipped from the US. :)

that would be around 15.23k according 20north.com, 300rs lesser from shopyourworld.com and probably a couple hundred bucks lesser through kmd or icc world.

but problem is it's not available here, and warranty is a PITA if got from amazon.

p.s. you are an Asus rep or what ? ;)

Thank you very much for that.

I am really dumb with these online shopping sites and where to find the best stuff for the most rebates.:ashamed:

Let's hope its available here for lesser and at the least, not much more than what other good quality GTX460s are available for.
