Re: Help choosing a Physx card...

sorry to OP, but i have one noob question, does the phsx pcie slot have to be 16x too or can it be 4x or something

Re: Help choosing a Physx card...

well actually 8600gt or cards of that performance range dont utilize 16x bandwidth so theoritically it should be able to work at 4x but i have wierd performance issues when i was running 8600gt on my previous mobo(limited to 8x)....so double check before buying

Re: Help choosing a Physx card...

afaik gt240 would be the perfect vfm physx card

however if you want to be futureproof, look no further than 9800gt 512mb

do you need help in setting up Physx?

ther is a very informative thread in Overclock.net,

which details the steps and modifications involved to use a Physx card with Ati graphics renderer

Re: Help choosing a Physx card...

9800 GT or a GT 240 is at the sweet spot.... Below this, you will end up wasting money as it wont be powerful enough. And no 8600GT please. Wont be enough.
Although, for a perfect physx card, 260 is recommended..

PS> I am not getting into the debate of Physx being a feature to spend all this money on or not,

Re: Help choosing a Physx card...

Does It possible to run both nvidia + ATi card ?

I have gigabyte X38-DS5 mobo & nvidia 9800 gt .

One pcie slot avaible .

OMG newbie, use GOOGLE.............

Here is the information:
How To: Run PhysX in Windows 7 with ATi Cards - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net
Nvidia disables PhysX when ATI card is present - Page 28

List of steps to be taken to google something (strictly for noobies :P)

1) Open Internet explorer or your favorite web browser (Take a look at wikipedia to know what a web browser is)
2) In the address bar, type in "www.google.com" (the most difficult part. The rest should be a cakewalk now)
3) In the lone search bar, type in what you want to search (in this prticular case, "I typed how to run nvidia physx with ati card")
4) What kinda wizardry is this. How did I get what I wanted to.... and then some more?!! Wow, I am impressed......

Yeah, well Welcome to the 21st century where Googling is possible and is as prevalent as Nitrogen, maybe even more.... :P

Ok sound cool , must try, now i have a MSI 5770 and ASUS M4A785TD-EVO , have 1 16x PCIE empty which work only on 4x speed, which card u think will best fit for me, i have CM 600 Xtreme PSU..

Wow I always thought even the most basic cards would suffice for physics. I can't seem to find any reviews for dedicated PhysX performance. Anyone care to share?

Did some basic reading around. I think anything over or equivalent to a 9600GT should be fine.
