Choosing a sony phone? Short reviews

Thanks to nikeel as it is an original idea of his which i lifted
The list is random but I have tried to include features that you will not notice on conventional brochures and websites .....

also I have'nt mentioned traditional SE cons like

- No direct 3.5 mm jack (stupid)
- port on the sides( 2 x stupid)
- video recording (yawnnnnnn)

because they are applicable throughout the range
Also please dont give statements like "N81 is better the W890 because It is a "Smartphone"...
A person who is buying SE obviously knows that....

SE C902

+ slim , stylish
+ decent 5 Mp cam
+ motion sensor
+ latest SE Media centre
- difficult keypad
- small screen
- touch sensitive camera buttons not really useful

Options: The same price gets you N82, better in all aspects, yet not as slim or stylish.
SE C702 (based on market specs)

+ semi-rugged
+ compact , stylish
+ large 2.2 inch screen (By se standards)
+ Latest SE goodies like media centre and netfront hml web browser
+ GPS

- below par 3.2 mp cam
- batt cover difficult to take off

options: no competition
Se K850i

+ Compact. beautiful
+ decent 5 mp cam
+ Latest SE goodies like media centre and netfront hml web browser
+ motion sensor
+ Great batter life
+ great loudspeaker

- limited video recording options
- poor location of flash
- poor d- pad
- scratches apparent on back cover

options: Se c902 is sexier, while Nokia N82 is frankly better
SE W890i

+ Slim stylish
+ decent Keypad considering size
+Latest SE goodies like media centre and netfront html web browser
+ okayish 3.2 mp cam , but without AF

- too small for few people
- no Flash, no AF
- cannot grumble about the screen size, considering the size of the phone itself

options : Really The best SE phone around, ie if u manage to find it in market... It is quite rare in market...( bangalore guys, call univercell)
the only real competition is 6500 classic, but it is at 10k

Se W760i ( market specs)

+ large 2.2 inch screen (By se standards)
+ okayish 3.2 mp cam but without AF
+ one of the best keypads around
+ Latest SE goodies like media centre and netfront html web browser

- not as slim and sexy as W910
- No AF
- paint chipping problem ????
Options: Nokia N81 2 GB, SE w910 and W890
Se W910i

+ largest Se screen 2.4 inches
+ Slim and sexy design
+ Latest SE goodies like media centre and netfront html web browser
+ motion sensor

- Paint chipping problems esp in red colour
- laggy menus, in earlier firmwares
- hopeless 2 mp cam
Se K660i

+ good looking ???
+ Latest SE goodies like media centre and netfront html web browser

- expensive??
- 2 Mp cam only- average
- round keys anyone??
Se G502

+ Latest SE goodies like media centre and netfront html web browser
+ normal design( which is increasingly disappearing these days
+ well priced at around 8k

- difficult Dpad
- 2mp cam only- average
Options : Well the above 2 phones are pitched as "Generation internet phones". Just For Se info for around 11k you can get RAZR V8 and for 8k Z6
Both have opera 8.65 built in.....
Also for 8k you get N70 and for 10k N73 vanilla
ALL Phones above come with FLASHLITE theme support that allows you to change the way your phone looks. This is mentioned here because earlier it was the domain of only high end W series, now even low enders like G502 and K660i have it
SE K790i and Se K810i

+ Great looking (k810)
+ best 3.2 mp cams around
+ great battery life
+ great build

- Keypad = se K790i and joystick = se K810
- thick
- lacks decent audio output
- old UI
SE G700

+ Has real hardware softkeys
+ decent multimedia abilities
+ great ram, same as P1i ie 90 mb free

- bad 3.2mp, non af camera
- slow?
- looks like a 5k phone

SE G900

+ 5 mp cam, nothin special
+ wifi,decent ram
+decent multimedia

- small touchscreen fr that price (20k)
- slow
- lacks the two extra softkeys,that G700 offers

basically if you ask Me Nokia has got market slam dunk.. If buying SE stay with W890/W760

sad, the good l days of K750/K790/T610 are over I guess

just see by categories

best Music phone : N81
best cam phone : N82
Best screen on a phone : N95 8GB
Best looking phone imho : 6500 classic/slide
Best touch screen phone : I dont know , but i am sure It ain't a se

And If nokia do , as I am thinking either N78 or 6220 will become best selling phone of 2008, sad;

One aspect I think u can add to your reviews is EDGE support. There have been many occasions when I have liked a Sony mobile, but only decided not to buy it because of the lack of EDGE support. Best example is the SE P1i.

I find it strange that many of the Sony phones support either EDGE or 3G but not both hyeah:

picked up a g502 recently for 2 reasons budget and form factor. wanted something that wasnt too bulky i guess 6300 was a better option in that respect but with 2 of those already in the family and being a SE fanboi hyeah: i got this :lol: the browser is pretty neat as well as the google search intergration and after 2 days am kind of used to the keys

If u guys can do alittle modding u can turn a SE phone better than Nokia phones .

Better camera drivers , acoustics drivers , graphics patches all can completely change the default look and features of the phone.

Just check the pics with the modded drivers on K800/K810i , better than K850 and even N95 by a mile.

Modded acoustics driver add Walkman quality music into K800/K810 phones with Megabass feature.

I have very happy with my modded k810i , although I do have a Nokia 73 ME as well , but I like the K810 better overall as it fast and takes gorgeous shots just like digicams.

Best screen on a phone from nokia is E90which is 4" having 800X352 resolution not N95 8GB.

yeah but here we are talking about phones which people are most likely to buy.......

will you recommend e90 to anyone? I wont.... because It enters a territory that is alien for symbian phones...

also in the last year I have seen so many people with N95 8gb, none with E90. critical hit,commercial failure

any news on the w980i? is it available here yet? if so, any idea about the pricing? my friend wants to buy a flip phone n the razor2 is out of the question. she doesnt like the other flip phones currently available but did like the w980i when she saw it online.

As I said SE has been very slow in releasing phones for India.... As of now even phones like W760i and W890i which have been released long back in international markets are pretty rare...

pricing should be around 20k lp-B
How'z abt Nokia supernova 7510 ??? launch around nxt month at around 15k...

Well to br frank i have seen more people with E90 than N95 8gb.

And E90 too is S60 phone so it isnt alien to S60.

Moreover e90 is a powerful multimedia monster as well as business phone.

only worthy se phones would be c905 - facing tough competition from samsung inno v8 and xperia x1 - how abt htc touch pro ..

both of these releasing in 2 months ..
