Chromecast or another dongle?

Guys I am thinking of getting a dongle/android stick for my TV. For now I have zeroed in one Chromecast. Are there any better options?

Edit: Just wanted to add, my smart TV supports YT by default. The main reason here is I want to play videos from other sites too like vimeo/dailymotion. The inbuilt browser doesn't work very well and runs out of memory every other second.

Yep, very good device. Cant get more VFM than this. It has slight flaws and you can get more costly ones, but this is the best price point vs value. It can run a lot of stuff and has a modern OS - Android. Its like an android phone on your tv. Plays Youtube, 1080p h264 and h265. H265 isnt flawless. occassionally you will have a problem with seeking but it will get better with updates to mx player.
 
MK808B+ can be used in multiple roles viz Torrent downloader, media center using XBMC, casual Android games, etc. One of flaw of this device is not so great WiFi. However this is not deal breaker if router and stick are in direct line of sight. I have achieved download speeds of 1.6MB/s on my 10Mbps connection with this stick over WiFi when router is in same room. If you are interested in emulating old games, this can again be handy.

Was going throug the enw development and someone has ported ubuntu running on android kernel and also Google Tv. Both have issues but damn thats a lot for 1.8k device :O
 
If you are using smart TV you can download daily motion and Vimeo apps from the smarttv App Store. I am using lg smart TV.
 
Most of the points have been covered by the guys regarding the MK808. What I will add to that is MK808 does come with Miracast which works well.

So when it comes to Chromecast vs MK808, the MK808 can be more than a device that is dependent on other devices. It is also a tad cheaper than chromecast.

Miracast depends on the device that's casting. So if anyone is buying only for miracast, best to check before you buy.
 
I bought chromecast for 25 dollars at target sale. few things that I noted.
1. doesnt connect to 5GHz network
2. sends usage reports to google by default. ( I was little pissed off at this default setting )
3. observed few disconnects where I had to re cast the page to continue watching.

Is there? I do have LG Smart TV but there are no options available for Vimeo and DM. The additional problem is YT has a pairing and a "casting" option via YT pair. Vimeo has only for ios which pisses me off really.

Edit: Missed the difference. One is EU plug and another is US plug. Preferable is the EU plug one.
 
Add Insurance and traceable shipping to 30.39; I m sure cost will rise. I had used Credit card for buying this one.
 
Mention in remark while ordering to mark it as a gift; they would promptly do it. Out of 4 guys who have bought this, one had to pay ₹400 duty. Shipping generally takes 1 month.
