What is the purpose?

If it is a digicam with 1080p recording then prolly extreme 3.

Good quality digicam/ high speed use - Class 6.

Regular use - Class 4.

Bear in mind that the extreme 3 from sandisk is also a class 6 card only, with just slightly higher specs.

Is SD different from SDHC in performance or is it just capacity 'SD High Capacity'?

I'll use it in my LZ10.

Well, SDHC is essentially a SD card, better OPTIMIZED to handle higher capacities. Both types are classified according to the minimum write speeds they offer, which are Class 2 (2 MB/s), Class 4 (4 MB/s) and Class 6 (6 MB/s).
Then there are the Ultra & Extreme series of cards that have been developed to offer write speeds starting from 10MB/s to 45MB/s.

Go for the Extreme III...you'll defintanely notice a difference when using it with your camera.

Isn't necessary unless he's using an advanced P&S or a dSLR.

I have Panasonic FZ35. Currently I'm using class 2 card, and I'm not satisfied with its performance. Should i go for Extreme III, or will it be a overkill? (Fz35 support HD video recording).

@thetoxicmind : I am using a Sandisk Ultra SDHC card with my Fujifilm S1500, it definately feels faster than a regular SDHC card. Also when the card is used to view or transfer photos via a card reader, it definately is faster than a regular SDHC card.

You should have started with a Class 4 or 6 card.

Anyway, I guess the SanDisk Ultra II should do.

^ Well, the likes of the Fuji S1500 is what I was referring to as, advanced P&S cameras.

They are an overkill for normal P&S cameras.

extreme III is an overkill. no vfm. the best is the class 6 transcend sdhc cards. if not tht. get a class 4. i use a class 4 on my fz28. no issues in burst, hi speed burst n hd recording. no lag. no delay. every pic i want is taken

Transcend class 6 would be the best value + performance of the lot. I have been using Transcend class 6 micro SDHC cards with my PSP and pretty satisfied with them. So ordered a Transcend class 6 SDHC card to go with the Panasonic FZ35.

ok i ordered Class 6 8gb for 950 bucks. I guess it's Micro SDHC.. but the the listing says Micro SD..

I hope you really wanted a micro SDHC card and not SDHC. The first two links you posted are for micro SDHC while the extreme III is an regular sized SDHC card. micro SDHC and regular SDHC are of different sizes.

Hey Guys,

Where do I get an 8 GB class 6 SDHC card, preferably Transcend in Pune? I have tried many place, but all I can find are class 2, 4 or the Extreme III, which are out of budget..!

I have got an FZ35 now but without a card! :(

I have got a 16GB Transcend Class 6 SDHC Card and Sandisk ExtremeIII SDHC Card. Both Card gives a PC-Card reader output of 13 MBps Read-Write.

But, in my Nikon D40 DSLR Shooting RAW ExtermeIII is way faster (imo 3 times faster!) than Class 6 16 GB one.

So if you want to purchase the card for a higher megapixel camera storage, Sandisk ExtremeIII would be the best bet.

^^ as he says, unless you shoot raw on a dslr in continuous shooting, it makes no point to get a sandisk extreme III card.

I say, for any P&S, dont spend on that, rather get yourself something else. People suggest a sandisk ultra II, but its not available easily, AFAIK.

I guess I dint phrase my query properly.

Actually I am not interested int eh extreme card, mainly due to its price.

I am looking for a normal class 6 SDHC but not able to find in any store in Pune.

All I could find in Pune was class 2/4 SDHC or extreme III. But I want to buy a Class 6 SDHC probably a 8 GB one.
