How did it got burned though, that too sata port
I wanted to ask the same thing.
What does it take to burn sata ports?

Those PCIe risers seem to be powered by SATA connectors. If they were fed via the same cable, GPUs could have tried to suck too much power via the PCIe slot and fried the cable.
Is there even a non-mining use for these risers?

I know someone who uses these risers to run GPU'S for hashcat, recovering lost passwords of crypto wallet.
Not sure OP is doing the same :)

That may be and these can be used to power ssd's too or any other pcie accessories but this is usb3.0 so not much speed as in mining not much bandwidth is required but a gpu can take full 75w power from pcie power.
