CPU/Mobo CMOS problem with my Jetway 690

I use a Jetway 690 Mobo since the last 2 years. I don't use it much myself as I am hardly at home. Last week, I was told by my family members, who use it daily, that the system was not starting. When they described the problem to me, I realized it was the CMOS settings. I bought a battery on my way home from work and replaced it. Made all the CMOS settings and it worked.
Now everyday I get a call from home about the same problem and I went step-by-step on the phone to help my daughter to set the CMOS settings. Even though the battery is new, the values seem to revert to default.
I have not had a chance to go into it myself. Will probably do that this weekend. I will check the battery and see if it is healthy and also check the supply at the chip.
Meanwhile, anyone has any ideas on what could be causing this?

You might as well do a BIOS update or rewrite the same BIOS version if there is no new version out incase if its not the battery issue.

I think the bios needs a proper multiplier setting in the bios. Because the multiplier value might be underclocked. There might be a checksum error.

Last evening I got home early and checked the CMOS battery. zero volts. It was replaced not even a week ago. Didn't check when I had replaced it.

Then I went out and bought a new battery and put it in. 3.29 V. Set everything up again. Switched off.

Opened and checked again this morning. Battery shows 3.29V.

Hope the original problem was a rare bad battery. Will monitor over the next few days. If the battery gets sucked out quickly, I guess I'll have to RMA the Mobo. Where do I go for Jetway? Had bought it from Rahul (The ITwares)

@Anish, ggt - Just curious to know, why would a BIOS issue cause the kind of problem I described of the battery running down?

often a zener diode situated beside the cmos battery is become corrupted. replace it through the jetway service centre. i think it should solve your charge drainage problem.

try to use original maxell battery. you may find their indian offices at
Sales Offices Asia

How does a zener diode get corrupted? :)
And if it was indeed a hardware fault on the Mobo and I were to take it to Jetway (since it is still under warranty) why should I worry what the fault is as long as they fix it?

The problem seems to have been resolved after changing the battery as I mentioned.
