My cousin was over last week with his Notebook with an Ati X300(64). I have an Ati 9000 IGP(128MB)

Howcome COD2 was running smoothly on his comp and not on mine ? :((((

hmm whats ur details system specs probably its centrino :bleh:
dunno much bout 9000IGP cards.

but x300 aint tht bad personally my cousn have in his nx8220 notebook.. its kinda good for daily work.

igp 9000 is based off dx8 while x300 is based on a dx9 chipset. The amount of memory doesnt really matter since both of them aren't powerful enough to handle it anyways. The x300 is but in IGP form the clock and memory bandwidth might be castrated. Also your cousin might be running the game in dx7 mode instead of dx9/8 mode..........

The 9000 Series is now outdated, well so is the x*** Series but heck :P.

Its not gonna run smoothly on the 9000, whatever you do.

Ive seen COD2 choke on a 9600Pro even.

But it works sooo well on his X300 ... :S

That 9000 IGP is just two pipelines and the graphics clock is most prob just around 250-300 Mhz. Its just a DX8 part. And ur graphics memory is shared with the main memory. Moreover ur P4 is much less powerful than his Pentium M. His X300 is a separate gfx card( DX9 ) with four pipelines most prob at 350 Mhz or so, plus it has its own dedicated VRAM. Thats why the game runs much better on his notebook.

Edit : and yes u could be running different settings too.

wht...didnt choke on my 9600 non pro...ran perfectly in 640*480:bleh:

^9000 IGP sucks. My lappy has it, can barely play UT2004 @ 640*480. A friend got along his Acer Ferrari, kicking ass with the 9700.

UT2004 has much lower req. than COD2.

You can play COD1 on it at 640*480 all low, quite comfortably.

I hope :S.

COD2 gives me only 30 - 80 FPS @ 1280*1024 :(. X800XL :(.

love to contradict u goldy... but the x*** series is dead? I have an X800XT that would jack the socks of your current card... :P

Jack the socks of my current card?

Lol, you have maybe 5 fps more in all games :bleh:...

BIG Deal...

I dont have as much money as you do, to throw around.

I was replying to Techhead ..

Well dude, UT2k4 works even on a gf2 mx, so on a 9000 IGP it would work pretty good. COD 2 is a totally different ball game. Read my earlier post, that explained it clearly why ur card is slower.

Mine's 350MHZ too ..

i have one point and a few doubts here...

I have a GF4 Ti4400 and i have been playing the game at 1024 * 768 at medium settings and it works fine... it is real smooth except when there is too much smoke... My card is Dx8.1 and since i am able to run it in 1024 * 768, akshitmohan u shud be able to play... but check ur ram... and tweak XP...

I might be playing the game in Dx8.1 mode... but how do i find out what mode it is running?? i will confirm the settings once i go home...

I dont think COD2 has that high req like BF2...

also COD2 means Call of duty 2 right?
