Newbie's Guide to Overclocking

Link first posted by dipdude. A complete noobie's guide to overclocking. Starts with the very basics. Highly recommended for newbies who are interested in taking their first steps in overclocking their PC.

Please update my first post in that thread :)

i have a amd 64 3500+ and my mobo is Asus A8V-VM .

So i want to OC my cpu can i do it using that board.

Guys,

My processor is an AMD X2 7750 BE (which is supposed to be overclocking friendly). I use ASUS M2N68-AM mobo. When I try to boot up AMD's overdrive tool, it outright rejects my hardware, and says that it cannot find a supported chipset in the PC config. Does this mean that overclocking is a nono with my current mobo or are there any workarounds (which are safe as well).

@Mods , this is a sticky but most links are broken , know its a very old thread but then why should it be a sticky when it aint really helping ? .
Would have been a great read but its a pity , many links out of order or no more exist and some links point to something else .
