whenever i switch on my computer i get a message
that says 'CPU fan failure, please get the system serviced immediately' :@

well i had a coolermaster fan that wasn't working before but then when the serviceman brought a new fan and fixed it ,the comp spit out the same message again even though the fan was functioning.he even applied thermal paste but in vain.

the service guy says that the motherboard is faulty and i need to get it changed(he also says that simply reparing it would mean that it would function only for 4-5 months).

my pc is a rusty old p4 1.9ghz with 128mb of ddr333 ram and has a mobo based on the sis655chipset(if i remember correctly)
.i use windows XP
so plz help....

what I think, the problem is in the FAN.

Most fan even with 3-pin connector, doesn't give proper seed reedings (just like my current no.1 exhaust fan) and for that, the the error msg.

Check it and replace the fan.

^ It should be perfectly fine assuming he's put a decent, reliable fan on it. Anyway your system will probably shut-down/hang if the proccy overheats.. so you should have just enough time to notice if something's wrong.
