Hmm, the only problems with the Sony's is their fugly proprietary media which is too darned expensive. That is why the T2 is good - 4GB in built.

She doesn't need HDMI, so that really isn't a factor. Still, I will look at the T100/T200, if nothing else they are smaller than even the SD870!!

EDIT: T-100 is friggin expensive!!! Even the T2 is more than I'd like to pay (as of now 400 USD... Amazon has it for 350 but is out of stock). T-200 needs 40 dollars memory stick extra, which makes it the same over-the-budget price...

Go for a slim sony one, they have the brand appeal over here (better than Fuji or even Canon) and they look good too (not talking about picture quality, it might not be the best, but then we're not talking about professionals here)
I have an old 4 MP Sony DSC L1, (I dropped off the mega pixel race a long time ago, 3.2 MP for me is good enough for postcard size pics) females digg it :)

This might be too old but get some latest model, anyone with IS... you will be good to go.. and well within your budget, I'd say go for DSC-W80/P , comes in Pink :bleh: 7.2 MP, IS 2.5" LCD and has HD output.. and the best part, comes for less than $200.. save some dough and get something for yourself.. and some of your mates too :) like this DealExtreme: $7.97 Unique Sexy 3D Optical USB Mouse great looking mice.

I'm not paying so I don't really care.... and when I say "I" am buying it, actually someone else is, I'm just directing person A to buy the camera for person B...

person B isn't that much into pink you know...

So I'm now leaning either towards the Canon SD870 or the Casio S880. Meanwhile, can anyone comment on how good kodak is in general?

Kodak sucks.. Go have a look if you don't believe me.. Cheap UI, the Cams look cheap in all ways, buttons, display etc... whatever you do, a big no no for Kodak..Nice to hear that you liked Casio though :D
