Laptops Compaq V5000 (2006 Model ) Laptop hinge broken

Hi All,

In my desire to see how much the laptop screen could bend :( I accidently broke my sister;s laptop hinge. Though the laptop is functional, while opening the laptop screen I can hear a kat-kat sound once.

Any idea how much replacing the hinges of this old (but good :) ) will cost.
I dont really feel like putting money on this old lappy .... but since I have broken it .. I will have to replace it :@

But dont the service center guys charge exorbitant prices compared to market rates :S

btw the screen got damage so they have to order some part from Compaq service center as original part or use different lcd from another old laptop if not working due to motherboard chipest is dead so they can remove the lcd and replacement for another laptop ;)

btw if u want original so u need to pay more money for that price

or replacement old lcd from another laptop might be cheap at your choice depend what your want it

btw i am sure dehil people can help u sort recommed laptop service center :)

I hv an old Compaq Laptop ( Bricked One :ashamed: )...thnx for reminding me...I might as well use the old laptop hinges :)

I guess its the left hinge...
But dont they come in pairs...
I mean can I buy only one .... @ 1200 ...

doubtful if you can buy just one hinge. i also have v5000 lappy (2006 model using it daily) and the hinges broke. so ordered a hinge set from ebay.com and repaired the lappy myself (w/help from the v5000 service manual). Had no choice b'coz service ppl here were quoting 4.5k!!

Hi imoen,

Well even I hv the service manual and can open the laptop ( hv done it before )
I havent enquired in Nehru place but I presume they will charge something like 1200 + own charges ~= Rs 2000 - 2500

How much did the hinges cost you ? Did u buy a pair or just one of them ?
I tried searching in ebay.com but could not find the same...
Can u help me find the same in ebay...Also were the hinges priced in dollars...
