so whats the moral of the story ?

See the earlier comments and you understand that ppl are apathetic. Why ?

Because not enough of them vote so its easier for a party to stay in office, as it needs fewer votes to stay in power. So ppl in mumbai get the govt. they deserve.

This is a deadlock situation. Govt will not improve because fewer than 50% bother to vote. Ppl are ready to work very hard for thier own bread but don't think their politicans need to do so.

The EC is trying to break this deadlock with this move.

If the EC did not make this move, i say take out a PIL against the EC as otherwise its slacking off on its job in mumbai.

True as that might be, I cant find any single candidate who's not a moron and is someone I would like to vote for.......what do I do then ? I want my right for a presidential nominee as the Vidhan Sabha member..... But there is no such provision ...

However, I'm happy that the office would remain closed. :D

Actually !!

If you are going to vote and you do not find anyone worthy of you vote , there is an option to cancel you vote, or simply to say "Not interested"

What this does is :

1. You virtually vote , and feel all responsible n all.

2. You block you vote and dont allow any fraud to happen .

3. I feel like it is Kicking every candidate from that area in the BALLS .

its called 49-0

as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!

Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".

Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... Because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled .

okay, i just got the mailer from HR: Holiday on 13-Oct-2009!*#

* Only for Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Pune offices.
# Saturday 31st October will be a normal working day.

I don't agree.. it's a myth

We get many such state and opposition party sponsored holidays in Kerala. Its great to have a surprise holiday anyday and I am sure Mumbaikars too will look forward to more of these once they get a taste for it.

And more often then not, its the educated people who skip voting, and thus prompting victory to many of the morons we have as politicians.
Don't blame me—I voted for Kodos:ashamed:
