Haha, have fun. Don't forget to get the DLC's and addon content. I hope you got the GOTY version that was on Steam sale recently.

Hell no one mentioned The Witcher ? It'll butcher all the other games. If you liked Oblivion, try Witcher. Its even better.

Yup Witcher, It's one of the best RPGs I have played in recent times.

actually i have the normal version. But i have patched it to v1.2.The only patch i could find.anyways i still have to complete few side missions therefore shivering isles have to wait.
anyways hows the shivering isles i have read that its not as good as the original.Does it also adds a main storyline?Or its just another side missions pack.

Shivering Isles has quite a lengthy storyline with its own ending. But after the lush green scenery of Tamriel I did not like the dark setting of Shivering Isles. I just finished downloading the GOTY with all expansions and addons from Steam, although I played the retail version years back. Now to find out a way to set aside 500 hours :D

Best RPGs imo :

Baldur's Gate 2 ---------------------------------- 10/10
Icewind Dale 1/2 -------------------------------- 8/10
Knights of the Old Republic 1&2 --------------10/10
Neverwinter Nights oc, underdark --------------9/10
Neverwinter Nights 2 ----------------------------8/10
Witcher -------------------------------------------8/10
Dragon Age --------------------------------------9/10
Mass Effect 2-------------------------------------9/10

Although both oblivion and fallout 3 are very popular I cannot seem to get over the flaws in them (some of which i guess can be overcome with mods).

-gamebryo, the engine bethesda uses gives a very awkward model animation [npc's seem to glid across the floor]
-faces are typically very drab and expressionless compared to modern games, and generally look quite ugly
-although the game is advertised to be huge everything feels the same : as if the same generic places have been copy-pasted over and over
-the voice acting is good only if you consider the few lines done by celebrity actors; aside from that it's really badly done.
-particularly in fallout 3 the combat/VATS mechanic isnt well done; it tries to be a shooter; but isnt really good at it
-the combat in oblivion also feels similarly repetitive
-the world/lore/story isn't very well narrated and there are (particularly in fallout 3) lots of lapses in the logic.
hmm. luks like iv gotta play witcher. which odr rpg do u suggest wich aint oldr thn 07? i playd oblivion. tlden went 2 wolfenstein. 2 bad games one aftr d odr hell!!! nw playong mafia 2

kOTOR is really good, specially the plot - so far the best surprise in any gaming story for me. Anyone remember RISEN,its by the gothic developers..When I first start the game, getting wake up a island with jungles yet to explore with unkown creatures with only a wood stick defend yourself, truely gives me the feeling of being in that world.

I guess not a lot of you have played Fable: The Lost Chapters. It was the first RPG i played and loved the game to every bit. Karma system was amazing. Lets you become a hero or villain. The way they narrate the story is amazing. Developement of character from a kid to a legend is cool. You can get various tattos, Do social interactions and can even fart :p hehehe...
When i played it for the first time my system was ancient. So it wasn't able to render the grass etc. Thus everywhere i was seeing white snow instead of grass and i got a really chilly fealing while playing the game that time.
Now i am playing again just to get in Fable mood before Fable 3 releases and its a completely new experience. Snow is gone and now i have grass in the game :p

One more thing i forgot to mention.. The control system in the Fable is spot on... Everything is where it should have been. I never had to remap even a single key

Hey congrats on finishing Oblivion. Wow that game is big and takes really long. The same goes for Fallout 3 made by the same dev. Though I always pick-up RPG's by them, there is one problem I tend to find in their games. The acting and the emotional attachment to character building (NPC buddies) isn't well done. While the game is a quality product overall, after the initial oohhs and ahhs with the game, it got really boring for me as there was no connection I had with the actors on the screen. KOTOR, Mass Effect and Dragon Age got that right, especially mass effect where not only the acting but also connection between the player and NPC is Superbly well done!

Since the game is so long (incredibly large world) and that there is no real connection with 3rd grade acting by NPC on the screen, it felt like grinding after a time. Even KOTOR acting was nothing great, but there were always interesting elements and party speak that made that connection.

I personally believe Betheseda, the makers of the incredible Oblivion and FallOut, still need to learn that! Bioware, the makers of Mass Effect and KOTOR, really do know their stuff when it comes to this element.
