check RAM is properly seated, n 4/8pin ATX cable also plugged.

I checked that. Ram is properly seated in the slot. Can anyone with VX450 check if they have the pin 17 on the 24 pin connector which connects the motherboard. All the other holes have wires that have gone into it, except the 17th pin. The manual says its ground. But that is missing.

I dont know if this is causing the problem.

there is no problem with pin 17. it is as it should be.

if RAM is not the problem,then have you checked whether you have connected the front panel wires correctly on your board?

the front panel wires are correctly connected. If i am right the small arrow on the black connector indicates +ve. I have connected the power, reset, hdd and the led connectors properly.

is there anyway to check whether the motherboard is fine. And also i removed the processsor and the heat sink. Should i now remove the thermal paste and apply new one or should i just use the same one. If i have to clean it, how shold i do it. Should i use any solution to clean it.

dude chill..

if uve just bought it...take it back to the dealer...he'll check it and replace the stuff himself...

most of the dealers do provide upto 1 weeks dealers warranty..

The long beep. .. Check beep code from mobo site / manual
also is the cpu fan inserted properly?. . . Thats often an headache

Update/Flash BIOS. U should have gone for Biostar 790gx.
when u take something test it bfr u get it home. The sp road dealers are hawks they wont replace so easily, if u have shorted the board by improper connections----u can forget the money u paid.

I would have loved to come and help u out, but I have exams:( .

Usually long beep comes due to improper Ram contacts with MB.
Btw how much did u pay and frm which shop? I will buy next week

I am sure i didnt short anything. I have connected it properly. Anyway, I got it from golcha in sp road. Those guys would never take it back or replace it. Thats why i am worried.

The processor was not the 0904 batch. So u cant unlocking the 4th core. Thats why i got the gigabyte 780gx based mobo.

Anyway...the prices

proc-->7,650

mobo-->5100

ram-->3000

psu-->4000

do u know anyone assembler with good technical knowledge.

One more thing...how to update bios when the comp doesnt boot. I dont have a floppy drive aswell.

I am going to check by removing ram sticks one by one tomorrow.

This could be due to faulty SMPS for testing try another if you have.Also give a try by setting components on table.

Biostar TA790GXB A2+ was cheaper by 1k and a newer chipset.
Anyway take it back to SP street/golcha they should have some enginners there. Dont call them home they will respond after a month or so.

If there is a problem with the hardware then the guys should replace it. U paid for a working pecie not defective one.

i removed one of the ramstick and the computer started....then i removed this ram ansd nserted the other stick...it worked fine....i put both of them...i get long beeps....the manual says its memory error....i tried the other two slots aswell...but it doesnt boot....why is this happening???

both the rams are fine...but together they dont work....i am inserting in the slots which is mentioned in the manual
