I was playing GTA SA and all of a sudden, it went into standby mode.

This keeps on happening regularly. and if I alt+tab from GTA SA twice, the screen gets corrupted(the game screen.... not the regular windows one). And even if I quit GTA SA and restart the game, the game does not run properly. The solutin is to restart the whole comp.

Now, this is really getting on my nerves.

Why does this damn computer think it can do whatever it pleases??

Someone help me here!!!

Nikhil

PS: Looks like I should set my homepage to Troubleshooting ---> Post New Thread :P

Looks like a driver problem. It may be due to cooling too.BTW did u OC the card?If yes, restore it to stock and leave the cabby open and put a table fan next to ur CPU blowing on the card.

maybe...... As I posted before, the RAMs on my 6800GT is not making proper contact with the heatsink.

Hey, nikhil, maybe you should put all your PC problems in a single thread. As they all must be related anyways. Might be easier for guys helping you to identify causes.

Best of luck with your PC :hap2:

Thank god my PC isnt doing any of these weird things. :ohyeah: Well, actually, it isnt doing much right now. :ashamed:

Hey... Why the hell is your PC down... What happened now... Waiting for another adventure story...

Your power profile is set correctly? When you say standby mode, is the comp behaving properly after you Alt+Tab from the game? You could simulate the scenario by running rthdribl for about 30mins or so and see the behaviour. Also run RivaTuner h/w monitoring in the background to capture the temps.

I read about that, you could try the rthdribl test to verify that assumption about the mem overheating. If it turns out to be true, I would suggest you get hold of thermal pads from deejay or locally asap.
