Computer reboots frequently

Guys, the issue has started again. Since today morning, comp has restarted 10-12 times. So I again cleaned everything around the CPU (HS, fan) and again dusted the PSU fan, etc. But the issue persists plus I now have cold

Guess, as you all suggested, I will have to go for a new PSU ... can't wait till I get my current one RMAed. After searching around TE, I have the following ones in mind:

SeaSonic S12II 430W

CORSAIR CX430 V2 430W

FSP saga II 350W

FSP SAGA II 400w

System details:

AMD Phenom II X2 550BE

Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H mobo

3X2 GB DDR3 RAM

1 TB Seagate HDD

On board GPU

Samsung DVD RW, Sound blaster Audigy sound card

Thanks

Do I really need that powerful a PSU?

Before you think powersupply is the culprit check out the same by using a spare PSU if you have it or borrow one from your friend to check it. Run the system for around 30-60 mins after connecting the PSU doing what you do normally. If it runs without any glitches then your PSU is the culprit but if not then something else might be.

That would be an overkill for your system unless you are going to install a quality graphic card worth more than INR 10K.

You can get a Corsair CX 430 V2 that should suffice your current system needs but make sure you are buying the V2 model of the Corsair as the earlier one had some problems.

Do update here on the progress.

Hope this helps.

600W isn't that large. 1200 Watts, now that...

If you foresee yourself using multiple HDD's, a power hungry video card/sound card and other misc PCI addons, I suggest you future proof your buy. Besides, it will barely cost you any more than a good PSU you are look at.

Before jumping to conclusion, make sure that your PSU is really the problem. Borrow somebody's PSU and try it.

If you must buy new one then Corsair CX 430 V2 is one you should opt for.

Isn't that the same as what I had suggested to him earlier ?

all this with phenom II. is it??

i dont think he will ever go for a higher end card than a <10K ones

And if anything that has to be future proofed, I would say he should start with his processor.

I had no choice but to call a PC engineer and he has fixed the problem. Initially he applied some paste and said everything should be okay. However, it didn't help much and PC kept restarting. Then he did some changes in BIOS and now everything works fine. Also, PSU seems to be in rather good condition as per him. The temp stats are much better than before.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I don't know how future proofing and all came in to the picture but I am going to stay with this config for a while
