Will this config ok for Tv viewing (Using Compro videomate) and recording the programs.:eek:hyeah:

Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2H AMD740G,V,16x,S,HDMI = 3875
SEMPRON AMD 64 LE 1200+ = 1400
Transcend 2 x 512mb = 1200
Zebby 400w PSU in iball Grabbit(already have)
15†inch Zebronics monitor (not flat) = 3100

or please give me a budget config for my purpose?

Hey buddy,

I think u'll need a more powerful processor for recording programs at higher resolutions. The Sempron would do for basic watching only.
I remember having a Sempron 4 years back and it used to lag or hang during recording. Buy a dual core atleast, if on a tight budget, go for X2, else Core2 Duo.

The rest seems fine to me.:)

The compro videomate is a software encoding card. Since you plan on capturing video get a card like Hauppauge that comes with hardware encoders. This would relieve your CPU from the video encoding task.

An Intel E2160 (Rs. 2900) + decent socket 775 motherboard at around Rs 2500 will offer better performance than the one you've mentioned. Also

Thanks for your valuable comments.

As per the clown_abhi the following are my decisions:

X2 4200 (or) 4600
Gigabyte - GA-M61SME-S2
Transcend 2 x 512mb = 1200

Is this OK for my purposes (Tv Programs recording & viewing and also my 24/7 download rig)
Please Help!

I have been using AMD X2 4000+ and Asus M2A-VM with 2 GB RAM for my Compro Videomate X-50 TV Card. Works alright. Was able to record entire opening ceremony of Olympics - Continuously for more than 5 hours. Do visit Comprousa.com and get the latest drivers/installation software. I have been updating drivers over last 3 years with vast improvement in performance and features.

Dat would be juussssttt fine :eek:hyeah:
