Laptops Confused between 2 DELL Laptops

Hi,

My friend is expecting the DELL RMA but DELL doesn't have the model that he previously had so I thinK he is getting the following 2 choices.

1) Dell(TM) Studio XPS 16 Laptop Includes back-lit keyboard
2) Dellâ„¢ XPS 15 Laptop

Going by the price XPS 16 seems superior, Can you guys suggest which one do I opt for ?

I would go for the Dell XPS 15 anyday simply because of the higher specs and the graphics card, not to forget the increased hard drive and to avoid the heating issues with the Studio XPS.
 
id say xps 15..

WHY, you ask..?

because it has an i3 proccy and better specs..

Also, the core 2 duo chasis of the xps 16 had a fault which led to overheating and hence is not recommended..

By the way, JUST CURIOUS, which model did your friend had earlier and what is the rma for..??
 
I recommend the Xps 15 with i5 dude

I read really good reviews about it

@viditkalra :- Initially he had Studio 1435 which he sent for RMA due to some cracks. It was covered under full replacement warranty, but now its out of stock and may be its not in production anymore..

^^he is in favor of Full HD..i think you misread.

Secondly, hey OP id like to ask one more thing, is dell giving you an option to add or level up the specs.. Are they asking you for any additional money for the newer model..??

what about the warranty..?
 
Performance vise IMO XPS 15 is superior, with More clock rate for memory, new gen GPU. Only Proccy of XPS 16 is 0.1 GHz faster then of XPS 15's.

Are you also given a choice for customization? IF so, just change proccy to Core i5 in xps15
 
AFAIK dell might be inclined towards replacing the parts that are cracked , i have an XPS 1330 and already got the mobo + optical drive + back cover , replaced , now the back cover was cracked so they did not replace the entire laptop but only the part which was at fault , don't know if dell has already agreed to your friend's request. pretty cool if it has.

Dell's after sales is something other companies should really envy. buying extra warranty is expensive though if one hasn't bought it at the time of purchase the 3yrs complete cover really regret it now.
 
Get the new xps 15 as you get the latest hardware and also the newer model is not prone to widespread overheating problems associated with studio xps 16.
 
My friend had bought the full replacement warranty last month costing 12k for 3yrs.

He had Dell Studio Initially and He is getting XPS 15 in couple of weeks :p

^^BTW Dell India hasnt delivered even a single XPS 15 as of date

They are just extending the time....

You might enjoy being in this queue for as long as 1 month but DELL Won't deliver it to you by then
 
Dell service is good, all issues to their call center + Engineer visits to our homes will be handled ontime. I guess the delay is only for the delivery of new systems.
