Guys a little question for you:

The Scenario;

1)I have a motorola EM-30 phone that supports 8gb extendable memory and is decent in the sound department
2)i have ep-830 and will be soon buying a Fiio e-5.
3)the only thing that i use this phone is for talking and listening to music, latter being the dominant usage scenario.
4)recently i have shifted to flacs
5)i want to sell my phone

Querys:

1)after selling , what should i opt for , an ultra cheap phone that gets the work done + a pmp(high capacity) + a good pair of earphones/headphones.
2)a better sounding phone + a good pair of earphones.

Response required on:

1) what to choose between the above two

2)pros and cons of the first choice are that the high capacity pmp's are quite expensive though i can collect enough cash within two months to go for a ipod-120gb.

3)the phone can be bought now but then i don't think they support flac's and also expandable memory is pretty less.

i am more inclined towards the first choice as i would be getting the best of both world though i'll have to carry i more device in my pocket.

so kindly suggest a good pmp and a good pair of headphones/earphones to get that magical sound

suggestions open for phones too. remember i already have ep-830 with fiio e5 coming soon. on afterthought kindly pour some light on better amps.

the most important part- budget

for pmp+headphone+amp-15-17k
for phone - 10k max(sound is the only important thing here)

If you choose pmp+cans, look for sansa clip 8gb + a good pair of phones ( iem or bigger as per your preference). If you want video as well, check out the cowon d2.

If you want to go all out, order an AMP3 thru kmd. It'll give the absolute best sq under $500, and it has an headphone amp built-in so you can opt for higher end phones as well.

@zhopudey

sansa not good enough in the memory capacity, don't need video player and amp3 way out of budget

thanks for the suggestions, anything more according to my requirements

Well, according to head-fi, the clip and fuze have the best SQ amongst affordable players. Only things better are the amp3 (which isn't really very expensive @ $150) and the hifiman @ over $600.

You mentioned 15-17k for pmp+cans. So how is the amp3 over budget??

Edit: Ohh and flacs wouldn't make a diff on most setups. Stick to v0 mp3s.

do you really need a lot of memory?

you could get a sansa fuze 8gb + 8/16gb sd card and a pair of good earphones.

if 24gb is still less, youll have to look for some decent hdd based pmp.

i didnt mention cowon d2/s9 because you said you dont need video, so that would be unnecessarily increasing the cost. with a cheaper pmp you can spend more on headphone+amp.

sorry i just saw $500 and thought that was the price of the amp3,my bad

and i did like flacs(wavs) better than 320kbps in my phone so thought in a good pmp they would make even more difference

and could you shed more light on AMP3 i mean which company as iwas clueless on amazon or google, thank you

@zhopudey - -thanks a lot for the links as they seem to clear everything

AMP3 is a really great player but i think that i will have to let it go as procuring it will be a hassle- right now i am hell bent on either sansa fuze(8+16gb) or cowon d2+(8+32gb) as i really would like a higher capacity player.

just one more thing please - what about the i-pod classic 120gb ,it would nearly cost me the same as cowon d2+,or

as a matter of fact i just saw creative zen x-fi on ebay for nearly the same price as cowon, how good is that player

A phone cannot match the audio quality of PMPs like Cowon D2 and ipod touch. I listened to music on Sansa Clip and I felt that the quality was overrated in head-fi. It's just clean sound and the audio quality is nowhere near to what you get on Cowon D2. When you feed FLACs to Cowon D2, it is just amazing sound (cowon D2 + Sony MDR-EX32LP).

My suggestion is to get Cowon D2 or ipod Touch (no need to get amp for these two beasts). For phone, get a decent phone like 5130XM so that even you can get the job done when your are not carrying your PMP.
