They are already struggling to find talent to run the plants in the US, apart from struggling to build those plants in the first place. It would be 10x more difficult in India.

Then it would make China angry, who would create problems like in the Samsung and Foxconn plants using their proxies (communist parties).

When they are so much booked in the current chip scarcity situation, they might not want these distractions and very risky bets.

this is during 2015s ...A friend's NRI friend had come to Delhi to open food franchise business .the experience and bribery and all that he faced here. He went back to USA.
So if just opening the food business is so much trouble here. toh bakhi ka toh bhul jao.

yep Geo-political situation aside, India is really inefficient when it comes up to setting up new industries/companies. Its not just TSMC, I know many companies who tried to make it in India but left after seeing the corruption and the bullshit of Indian dalals, most of them European who have never had to deal with that kind of bullshit before, maybe a few donations to a senator's campaign, maybe some endorsements but not like India, where every babu needs his cut to do his job.

We really need to have something like for babus like we have for police, where if they get caught taking bribes, its a straight suspension or even jail time

Don't see why India doesn’t factor in there. What more geopolitical risk is there with India compared to say Japan?

Both are front line states as far as China is concerned.

Supply chains seems to be what they are cribbing about. That will come with time.

Following TSMC’s rejection, India partnered with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC).

In a major step, PSMC signed an agreement with Tata Electronics to design and build a wafer fabrication plant. Tata Electronics will oversee future operations, marking a critical milestone in India’s chip manufacturing journey.

TMSC said under pressure from Major power they make plant out side Taiwan (US/Japan/Germany) and now they same major power pressure not to established plant in India.

but if Taiwan want keep China away from forceful grabbing of Taiwan, they have no choice but to set up plant in India. Only India historically proved that when great power/military mighty came in hand of any Indian Ruler they NEVER EVER evade any peace loving country & also ready to help friends without any conditions.

Murupapa may donated for it's own benefit to manage certain paper works or strict conditions in it's own favor, just like Musk spending for Trump in US election.
