Dont buy HDDs from abroad.... They are prone to crashing and warrranty is a big issue.

completely agree with Nikhil. No point in getting such stuff from US. besides the price difference is not too great to warrant a purchase from outside. I have myself ordered a 300 GB SATA2 16MB buffer for 5500 Rs (Its available for less outside chandigarh) . Same hdd on newegg sells for $100 comes to around 4500/-. A small price to pay for a 5 year warranty in India.

I would say...either a 2005fpw or a 512mb x1800xt...
2005's are going for as low as 300 now...it'd be a steal :D

I'll be having both of the above on my desk pretty soon :P *crosses fingers*

I would say if you don't know what to upgrade - THEN YOU DON'T NEED TO UPGRADE. Save the money and do something else with it. Don't try to keep up with the h/w maniacs if you don't really need to.

OMG OMG OMG... Can you plz plz plz tell me from where to get a Dell 2005 for under $300... pretty plz :P...

^^lol.. saw it selling on ebay.com about a week back at that price...shipping was around $50 iirc...

Save the money and upgrade when you need to, what you will get for 300$ in Q2 2007(arnd Ut07 release) will be far superior to what you can get now for 300$, also warranty is a problem when getting things from abroad.

but werent you the one who was getting a 7800GTX or a X1900XT Mr Guide...

still wey do u get dell 2005 fr 300$ plz somebody tell me.

if that really the case i might strech the budget n get the LCD and a x1800gto or a 7600gt both of them

I second the X1800 XT 512 MB too :D Or if u feel thats a bit of an overkill an X1800 GTO for a $100 less is also a nice choice.

^^depends upon how much more 're u willing to shed on the lcd ??

considering u spend $200 aprox on the x1800gto...the remaining $100 out of you $300 budget would not get u a decent lcd (if at all it does)...:cool2:

U can get a decent 17" LCD in that budget or even a low end 19" but its not worth it. Go for a good quality 17" one over a low end 19" any day.

I would not suggest the DVD Writer... they are very prone to problems. If you buy it in India, you can easily get it replaced under warranty...

And why the Logitech MX 1000?? why not the new G5/G7 ??

But the X1800XT rocks!!! Congrats!!!

get the dvdrw locally for warranty, chnages of going kaput are very high :P

why a mx1000? :P get a CH or G5/G7 ;)

CRTs are better then LCD in gaming due to very low response time n almost no ghosting. CRTs are great for FPS, where response only matters.

I m also getting a few things from US this June. The things includes CPU cooler, GPU, CPU, RAM and wireless router(as u can see in my sig).:hap2: :yahoo: :lick:
