Hey guys...
I am looking forward to attach my Laptop to a LCD TV to watch movies on it...How can i do that?

My laptop has a VGA port and a S-Video port ...No HDMI port, No DVI port.

The TV has all the connections ( VGA , HDMI , DVI , Component etc )

How can i connect this laptop to the LCD TV?
I have some HD rips also ( 720p ) ..Can these rips be played through the laptop and on the LCD TV ( @ 720p ) ?

Also..Is there any difference between a RGB port and a VGA?

Thank you :)

1 connect thru VGA

2 HD rips can be played on laptop & can be seen on LCD TV @720 pixels !

3 RGB and VGA belong to similar technology ; However both are not equal

VGA/RGB will transmit only video signals. For audio, you will have to connect you laptop's 3.5mm audio out jack with external speakers or with the TV's audio input if it supports one (I am not sure if it would have an audio input jack).

My friend is using VGA out of Laptop to VGA in of LCD TV and it gets sound from the LCD TV

as the professor said, VGA port has no provision for audio signals !

it could be a different port / modified port !!

can VGA transmit 720p Movies to the LCD TV @ 720p

please give it a try. with my little knowledge, it should show you required 720p resolution ...

stereo out to RC in cable may be used to connect headphone socket of laptop to audio in of LCD TV

but the thing is, will tv accept audio signals from rc port when working in vga mode, i doubt that.

Tried playing Avatar through VGA port..The video shutters and the quality ain't that good..

Also..tried Headphone out of Laptop to AUX IN of LCD TV..Couldn't get sound

The resolution of your video is only 1280 X 1024...So that's NOT true HD...

Is buying a HDD Media player better then?

Yea..the movie plays fine on the laptop.. It is Avatar 720p..

Laptop is Lenovo with 1GB Ram , Onboard GFX Card , 320GB HDD...Was playing the movie through an external harddisk...

And the movie was playing at 1280 X 1024 ..and not 1366 X 768...and there is no optin to change that..

1280X1024 is 'NOT' true HD.
