How do you connect the laptop output to TV? I did a search in the net and most of the sites suggest using s video port... But how do you connect a TV that doesnt support s-video port? is there anyway to connect the laptop to AV in/out that comes common in most of the TVs?

What outputs do you have on the laptop and inputs on the TV ?

Also, the output resolution on a TV doesn't look very appealing , unless you have a LCD TV .

Get a S-Video to Composite cable for viewing video on your TV. Audio will still be through your laptop. To have the audio on your TV get a Stereo to RCA cable

Could anyone tell how can we connect a laptop that doesnt has any S video part.
I have got a Dell Studio 14 laptop having an HDMI,VGA ports. what would be the best option to connect it to my 29 inch Sony television. isnt there any option like VGA to AV

Same requirement, need to connect my acer aspire one - VGA port to a 21 inch normal CRT TV .. any suggestions?

You'll have to get a VGA to composite converter. Also carry the laptop with you and check if the cable really works before buying it. I've read about VGA to composite converters which work with some PCs but not others.

It will be easy if you have an LCD TV. Now,
For LCD with HDMI cable/DVI cable --> Get VGA to HDMI/DVI converter and connect to TV
For CRT TV with s-video/RCA input --> connect via s-video port or get VGA to RCA converter and connect to TV.

Are these cables enough?
I mean apart from setting up video out/audio out from laptop anything else required? (I may be wrong too!) (If there are any settings to be done out the laptop so that video out and audio out does work).
Can you let us know the settings on the laptop part?

I have a Samsung 22" LCD (which does have
RF input 1
Component(Y/Pb/Pr) 2
S-Video 1
Headphone 1
Composite(AV) 1
HDMI 1
PC input (D-sub) 1
Video Monitor out, L/R No
Optical sound out No )
and would like to connect the same.

@kenkanya, yes these cables will get the work done. In the laptop there will be a combination of keys (for example Function+F4 in my HP laptop) that you've to press to switch display to VGA out. You can use the PC input (D-sub) of your LCD to connect your laptop and for this you'll need a VGA to VGA cable that would cost Rs.250. By the way does your laptop have VGA out ?

@mod-the-pc
Yes i have VGA in my laptop.
Thanks for the useful information.
The PQ and SQ will be good? Some one in this forum did tell PQ would be good if its LCD. Then in case i understand the audio output whatever the soundcard capabilities of the laptop if connected to the LCD. And normally LCD speakers are pathetic. Until having a AVR!!!
So i suppose viewing movies/videos by LAPTOP-LCD/TV may not be a good experience! Right?

Laptop: Toshiba Satellite A205-S5823

The picture quality will depend on your LCD TV. As for the sound get a decent desktop speaker and connect it to your laptop.
