Has any of the TE members connected his PC and his music system thru Wi-Fi adapters or any other wireless connection?
If so plz can u share details abt it, devices used, availability in India, approx cost etc n how did u connect them.

Also r u sharing ur broadband conn thru Wi-Fi or other means among multiple devices.

I know this is catching on abroad in a big way, so just curious to know abt here.

Music System :S. Which music system has Wifi? For connecting a notebook and pc thru Wifi, all u need are cards in the systems and a 802.11b(g) hub. Most of the hubs also have an RJ-45 jack where u can put the lan cable of ur internet connection and share between the two devices. Its a pretty painless process.

heres what I could find

A new feature in the JVC receiver line is a USB-PC link that sends music from a PC to the receiver for playback, providing far superior sound quality when listening to music files compared to the performance of typical PC speakers. All receivers offer a wired version, while the RX-D301S/302B and RX-D701S/702B feature wireless playback using a transmitter that plugs into the PC’s USB port and sends a 2.4GHz signal to a receiver in the same room for file playback.

of course, no idea when it'll be available in india

Onkyo's net-tune series of receivers can be connected to ur pc thru ethernet; though onyko doesnt recommend wireless
Q: Can I operate a Net-Tuneâ„¢ compatible receiver over a wireless LAN?

A: We don't recommend using Net-Tuneâ„¢ over a wireless LAN. Factors such as the lay-out of your PC and receiver or the stability of the transmitted signal may cause the audio signal to skip.

Almost all onkyo products are available in india.

I once did something similar to that but not with wi-fi.

I used a short range (~50 feet) FM transmitter attatched to the PC's Audio out muxed with the Speaker jack using a 'Y' splitter.

Hehe its obvious its dollars aint it :). Who'll give u a THX Ultra2 certified receiver for 3500 rupees :D.You wont even get a decent 5.1 receiver for anything less than 4-5 times that price.

Yeah no music system has Wi-Fi. what i meant was there will be a Wifi transmitter connected to the audio out of our PC and a Wifi receiver will be connected to the audio in of your Music System.

Ain't this better than wires running around all arnd ur house

Guess what the price is... 3.5 grand LOL.

Sorry I didnt get the joke? do u think the price is too much or too little? Cause recievers start from below 500 and go upto more than 6K. So the one u mentioned is sitting right in the middle of the price band.
