CPU/Mobo Conroe an AMD killer? I dont think so

very very interesting!

I guess we'll just have to wait. But to be honest i do think conroe will really amaze all of us. Intel has put TONS of money into researching this new architecture. They determined to be ahead of AMD. And thats what they'll do.

We'll all see what happens

That was a lengthy discussion! But I think we should do what the majority is saying...Wait and watch. Either way, we're going 2 gain.

I went through the Blog and found this to be the best part and very funny -

Basically, when the memory starts pumping 12.8GB/s, the 10GB/s FSB of Intel has to say "slow down, too fast".

ROFL

Anyways trhe Sharikou Blog is a nice read cos it further elaborates the facts put forward by Karan in his post regarding Conroe performance.

Read it guys...

Again, we know that the Conroe wins in SuperPI only coz of the 4mb L2 Cache.
It will beat the AM2 in real world benchmarks. Surely. But its not an "AMD Killer".
By no means can we justify to call it that.

Well like someone else suggested It's us who'll win... Fanboi's apart :P we need fast dual and quad cores to get our work done faster.. I for one would like to watch DVD's while encoding and possibly downloading content from the net...
Looks like its gonna be yet another Intel for me...:P

Ah well Vandal, isnt that already possible with X2 and DC opty? Infact its capable of doing much more things simultaneously added to what you posted :P

Yep, Sharikou's blog already posted by KingKrool!

The main defending claim in his blog is that applications that occupy less than 4MB are accelerated by the 4MB L2 cache. That seems rather contradictory as per the benchies posted at XS where apps like 3DMark etc are ahead of the AMD - now surely those dont occupy less than 4MB of memory, do they? ;)

Yeah what you say makes sense Eddy. But then i am confused cos what this guy says also compels me to believe in what he is saying.

Fact remains that we have to wait till it is launched and benchmarks are done on available set of hardware.

Then only we can come to a solid conclusion.

without a decent review of both when they are launched nothing can be said ....

IMO both AM2 and conroe will be having same performance .... in some apps conroe will be faster and in some AM2

^^ I doubt that.

I think the Conroe will win over the AM2. In all benchmarks and day to day apps.

Itll specially with coz of the 2.4 Ghz Conroe being so Cheap :P.

^^ if its performance is high it won't be cheap .... its always like that .... chk out the dual core prices from AMD and Intel and u will get an idea ...

Does that mean the Sempron pwns them all? I mean its "so cheap"! :)

^^ Lol, specify next time :P

About the article, I'm a bit sceptical. This dude looks like a huuge AMD fanboy who has started to develop depression symptoms after seeing pre-release Conroe benchmarks, and has tried to use only programs that A64 wins at (Like Sciencemark shit) and not real-world appz.

In fact, Anand had no way to verify Intel's IDF Conroe setup, the Conroe configuration parameters were provided by Intel. Anand noted that "it looked like Intel had done the unimaginable" with regard to the situation. Nonetheless, Anand assured readers that "there was nothing fishy going on with the benchmarks or the install" based on his trust on Intel's honesty -- which was seriously lacking from past records. Thus we had an interesting situation: Anand relied on Intel's reputation to validate the Conroe setup while Intel relied on Anand's reputation to validate the Conroe scores -- a loop of trust was formed to convince the world + dog.

Just shows how desperate Intel is.

Btw, this sounds good to me :ohyeah:
