I agree with Blade Runner..PC gaming never going to be end while opposite may happen,,may be M$ will fuse the Xbox platform into the PC platform(like the nokia tries to fuse the Ngage platform)..
1) Closest that will ever come to is "Games for WIndows LIVE". First time around it was an horrible failure
2) Cross Platform games will
never be "bridged", coz :-
Cry Baby 1 : "He pawned me because he uses his mouse and keyboard, and i only get to use my controller!!!1 THat is so UNFAIR"
Cry Baby 2 : "Lets make consoles use the keyboard and the mouse aswell then" Errrr so why am i spending 400 bucks to buy an outdated 'PC'?
Not picking on you SJ, but these discussions were out and about with UT3(? or 4 dunno) was/is/has Keyboard and mouse support for the PS3, and almost everybody cried foul at it (correct me).
Regarding the ethical vs priacy vs the lively hood of the programmers vs [insert option 4 here] :-
You go out to buy a toaster. And you buy it, only to realize that it burns half of your toast. You return it and claim warranty, Right?
You buy a toaster, and it burns hlaf your toast, for which the manufacturer says, we will release a fix for it which is free, but please wait while we try to fix it. You cant claim warranty because the toaster being faulty is your electric power's fault, no matter how many stabalizers you use, no matter how many UPS ur using, Its YOUR FAULT. And you can not claim warranty, unless the toaster has physical damage.
I loved PS2 games, and PS1 games, everything had to be perfect, QA had to be top notch, any screw ups and its game over. Thats part of the reason i used to love consoles. But thats no more the case.
I ordered the PC version of FO3, what a
Joy it is to play that game, i do wish that they had the perk for reducing random crashes.
Edit OnTopic(i hope) :-
I notice that its usually after a game goes gold (outsourced / internal publishing) thats when pirated copies emerge.
