CPU/Mobo Cooler Master 690 + CPU Fan

i have just ordered a COOLER MASTER 690 case and will be putting a CORE i7 920 and ASUS P6T v2 mobo in it.

since the cpu fans i have seen on newegg are SUPER HUGE i'm wondering if anyone can recommend a cpu fan that will fit into the rig i'm building???

its sort of hard to know this unless i goto the store and buy a heap of fans and try each one. read a lot of people going through this and having to return stuff to the store or have had to mod their case and am hoping to learn from others misadventures

have so far had my eye on the dark knight one ...
Newegg.com - XIGMATEK dark knight - s1283 120mm CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

and the more expensive noctua...
Newegg.com - Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 120mm SSO CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks
would prefer to stick in the price range of the dark knight model.
will be OVERCLOCKING the i7 920 for sure too:hap2:

and oh yeah, will those LGA775 fans fight the LGA 1366 sockets or is a conversion kit needed???

fans are all of same size

but cooler if u meant ... they need 1366 kit.

i had cooler master hyper 212 and i need a 1366 kit. got it from Amarbir at 490 with shipping.

waiting it for to reach and should be great.

Fans i have used normal cooler master fans. just felt fans in cooler could be average but fans of the cabinet need to be good :)

so if u building system be careful in choosing fans for 690. two things crucial for fans is Max CFM and also Noise. They both are directly proportional

have installer Thermaltake Silenct cat A2329. They are silent 16dba and have 62cfm too :)

if you are ok with a slightly fiddly mounting mechanism then , i believe thermalright now makes the Ultra 120 extreme 1366 RT version.

Ultimate CPU Cooling Solutions! USA

check it out sir :)

according to a lot of people here the TRUE is unbeatable.. and i agree that they are very very good .. i have 2 TRUE Blacks and they are very good....

but personally id take the noctua..

i hate the mounting mechanism on the TRUE's..

and you have to lap the TRUE to see any benefit..and then washer mod it and all that ... too much work and effort and for what.. 2-3 degrees max lower to the noctua and the new megalems !!

And they dont need any such lap dancing and washer modding !!

so id say take the noctua..

cheers :)

P.S My hyper 212 game me better cooling that a TRUE until i had it lapped !! so yeah .. think about it !!!

i just dont get it why they cant make a FLAT base on the TRUE's.. i know they claim its cause the IHS on Intel Processors is also curved.. but honestly its bull !!!

My q6600 and i7 940 IHS's are pretty damn FLAT so the concave TRUE made CRAPPY contact and hence i got crappy temps until i lapped it :)

my hyper 212 was totally FLAT and so is my V8 !!

just my 2 cents..

cheers again :)
