Re: CM 690 II unveiled

Looks good, hope they price it properly as well

A nice transparent side panel would have sealed the deal

Gowtham - Which features you didnt like :p

Yeah the site is kind of a disappointment after the "hype" but here's a video review I found.

Oh and it says sub $100. Hopefully that'll translate to sub 5K here. I'll prolly buy one once a transparent side panel comes out; wonder if the "normal" CM 690 transparent side panel will fit on this one?

Well you can read a nice review here. Do not find it much different from the classic CM 690, apart from more fans, black interiors, nice cable management holes, and the CPU back plate cut out. It cannot fit the HD5970, is a shade small. Sad.

Depends what the pricing will be vs the CM 690, or will the CM 690 be EOPLed...!

Well, yeah, they've kept the look of the CM690. Additional (non-aesthetic) differences are that the reset/power buttons are now on top, there's a built in hot swappable drive bay. Also, it now comes with a fan LED power button, to switch off the LED.

seems that there will be two models.. standard and Advanced..

standard one will replcae regular 690 at it's price point.. the advanced one should be 5.5-6k considering the addition of hdd dock and etc....

overall i'm not happy with 690 II

i would still prefer lanCool k62 or NZXT Tempest EVO over this.

I like the subtle visual changes that are made to the exterior and the full black interiors (finally). I also liked the SATA dock on top, and the revised front panel (or should we call top panel) controls. One thing I liked about CM690 (old and new) is the solid rubber footings, the case is well elevated and the extra long feet really helps keeping the case from sliding and toppling. If you use bottom intake fans (or bottom lighting), you'll appreciate the extra height.

But regardless those, I would still open my wallet for K62, for the ingenious features for wire-management and ease of use (complete tool free installation). :)
