Hi
Please lowball me all you like - but on PM only. Ask any questions you like about the system on the thread. Thanks!
PIII Coppermine 550

128MB 133 MHz SDRAM

HIS Motherboard with i810e chipset

40GB Samsung ATA66 drive

Acer 50x CD-ROM drive

Keyboard, mouse, speakers

14" Colour monitor (VGA)
System has Win2000PRO (OEM) copy running, needs to be wiped from disk for sale. But will demo the system with it.
Pls note that I am selling this for a friend and therefore cannot conduct price negotiation on the thread. I would have ideally liked to post the price here but will need a 24-hour lead time to approve new pricing and negotiation. Thanks for understanding.
Also thanks for understanding that system sale will be to Mumbai buyers only, so we can demo the working system and pay the actual seller directly.
It would be advisable to add another stick of 128 or 256 MB SDRAM for obvious reasons. The current stick has slight humidity damage between PCB layers, but works fine after revival in the freezer. Any 'new' sticks you get may have similar issues - with systems this old it's a pretty common problem.
PM me for expected price, and post any other questions on the thread. Thanks!

Hey could you elaborate plz.I've tried the freezer trick with HDD's but does it work with Ram too?

Well, the reasons and mechanisms are different, and TBH it's more of voodoo than science. Basically there was a lot of condensation between the PCB layers, causing capacitative (I guess) conduction, and the RAM was alternating between not being detected and being detected but not completing SPD check.

Freezing it probably drove out the moisture by collating it into smaller pockets, and the stick is working fine 48 hours after.

I guess one could also use hot air to achieve the same thing, but then risk condensation as the stick cools off.

As an addendum, there is some issue with the I/O controller, as I inspected the machine again last night.

The board outputs for the HD light doesn't work. The machine is losing time when switched off (and it's not the battery). The power light can't be connected to the board for me to check that.

The machine still runs fine though, but it's like an old amby.

I'm closing the sale for now, as I'm not willing to put up something on Market that is defective.

Thanks for interest.
