Copying Files From Tata Sky Hd+

Has anyone tried to copy recorded programs from the Tata Sky HD+ (or tata sky + for that matter). What format are the files stored on the hard disk and are they encrypted? If I take the unit apart and copy files from the hard disk to my computer will I be able to view them? Someone should have tried this by now

Any info is very very helpful because I do have a couple of very important programs in there that I dont want to lose ever (some family members were on TV).

It is very difficult(almost impossible) for a regular person to extract the data on the HDD of an STB.

Your best bet would be to record the output of the STB using an external recorder like this one

Wont work, get a TV tuner card instead.

No mate it won't be possible, recently i read somewhere (maybe in TE), that someone ripped the STB and copied the recorded files to a computer.

But it didn't work, as those files were copy-protected

any budget TV Tuner card that will support SD and 720p via component ? no Intex, tech-com though..

TV tuner is the only way to view the files on the PC..
