2.88GHz for around €250

In addition to the yesterday's listing of six-core, Core i7 980 Extreme Edition, EU stores have started to list the new Core i7 930 as well. We already wrote about this Nehalem-based 45nm quad-core a couple of times, and now it has finally appeared in EU retail/e-tail.

As noted, the new Core i7 930 is a socket LGA 1366 Nehalem-based 45nm quad-core that works at 2.88GHz, has QPI speed of 4.8GT/s and packs 8MB of L3 cache. This CPU is going to replace the Core i7 920, and only features a slight clock speed bump. It officially supports triple channel DDR3-1066 memory and Turbo Boost gets it to 3.06GHz.

It has been listed in couple of established EU retail/e-tail shops and some of them even have it in stock. The price starts at €254.82 and you can find it here.

Now they have no 9 series numbers remaining. I hope we don't see Core i7 945s and 955s, that would be too much :p
2.88 GHz, nice clocks though, fractional multiplier obviously.
