^ 3 i7 users posting in complete favour of i7.....

I agree with iGo's posts.

Gaming -> Core2Duo at high Clocks wont bottleneck even gtx 295

Workstation/Encoding/rendering/animation -> i7 is worth the cash here.

Uber PC gamer who dsnt giv fuk abt cash or maybe Enthusiasts -> i7 or gtx 295 sli etc etc etc. :P

So you're using GTX295 on 22" monitor. Way to go!!!

26" and 30" makes sense... :)

Was just wondering seeing 22 incher in your siggy, cause GTX295 is serious waste on that. Nevermind.

^ Yeh... that's true. FPS gain is there. :)

As for your PMs, I wasn't sure about today... I'm still busy in shift (moving to new house). One can never guesstimate the amount of work goes in moving. :P

Thankfully, the net was activated before moving in... so I can surf and do TP while cleaning work is going on.

yup fps is there. but the 26" n 30" tht i have r TN panel. n since ive started using IPS panel, TN panels seem like less fun

When it comes to Multi-GPU setup's the CPU does play a major role. You will need all the processing power you can get. A Core i7 by itself means nothing. To be able to make use of a Multi GPU setup optimally you will need a Core 2 Duo at 4GHz+ or a Core 2 Quad at 3.6 GHz+, With a i7, the overclock reqd will be probably lesser, that's all.

To put nVidia's point in proper perspective, they are saying that its better to pair a GTX280 with with a Core 2 Duo than pairing a Core i7 with a lower/mid range card. i.e to say, don't compromise on the GPU for getting a Core i7. That's obviously true when we are talking about a high end card vs low/mid range card. But most die hard gamers (with enough money) would anyway get that ultra high end SLI or Crossfire combo, but once that's fixed, the CPU does make a difference, With a bit of overclock, a Core i7 can easily beat a E8400 @ 4.0GHz. So if you have the money, Core i7 does make sense.
