PLEASE TAKE THE VACCINE. I can write pages on why one should take the shots, but tired of explaining the same to people IRL.
I was the same person requesting you guys to delay the vaccination back in April/ May. But this is THE TIME for getting vaccinated. Please take it now. The risk benefit ratio is negligible.
And I have not changed to a "bhakt" suddenly, but now I know how difficult it is to reach all the corners of India, and believe it or not, some people are trying. Not only the nurses and doctors, young volunteers from North eastern states are working really really hard to maintain a supply chain of vaccines.

I don't know if you guys are aware of the recent conflicts between Nagaland and Assam in Dessoi Valley Reserved Forest and Tsurangkong Valley, 2 of my friends are stuck at Dessoi and witnessed the confrontation between police forces of these 2 states!!

These 2 doctors are not greenhorns, one of them served in army for 2 decades another one has been in Kosovo during 1998-99. They ( neither am I) don't know the cause of conflict, but are completely baffled by the reaction of army posted there. The jawans didn't even help to remove the barricades placed in 2 major highways.

Unnecessarily generalisation and rage generation is what clickbait thrives on, not surprised to see what this guy wrote.

And for those who sitll haven't figured it out, the link is talking about a specific outbreak (in Barnstable County, Massachusetts). This is NOT a sample study done across the country - it is ONE instance where there was an outbreak, of which 76% people who got infected had been fully vaccinated. Again, this is an outbreak and NOT representative of the average. This is just saying that in an outbreak event, like mass gatherings, where almost everyone gets infected, more people who were vaccinated were infected than those who weren't. And time and again it's been said that the vaccines are not a panacea - they don't fully prevent one from getting covid (since no vaccine has 100% effectiveness yet), just that they reduce the devastating effects if you do catch the virus.

This would be equivalent to saying that 70% of people who fly in a plane die, if the source of this 70% statistic was based on just plane crashes. Please get vaccinated, it's already been well documented that vaccines do work against the delta variant. In fact, the Cambridge Astra Zeneca vaccine (covishield in India) is well proven to be more effective against newer strains compared to the original strain:

The statistic that "76% people who got infected were vaccinated" here simply means that in the area affected by the outbreak, more than 3/4ths people had taken the vaccine. There is not much else to derive from that statistic by itself (other than clickbait and rage generation).

No one is forcing you to take the vaccine. So you can keep this BS with yourself.
But at the least do not post anything before you read and understand it. And if you are struggling to understand English, may I suggest taking a few classes in comprehension.

I'm attaching a very controversial paper which deals with vaccination ( not covid vaccines, but all common vaccines with decades of research behind them) and mortality.
Even with all safety checks and precautions vaccine related mortality will never touch baseline ( no death)
The first of Moderna vaccine which reached Europe had a huge disclaimer attached to each and every box " THIS IS NOT A PREVENTIVE VACCINE AND DID NOT GO THROUGH ALL THE EU SAFETY STANDARDS" or something very close to it.
Everyone in the healthcare system knew from day 1, these are not preventive vaccines. But I can link to hundreds of peer reviewed studies stating the vaccines do reduce the mortality rate considerably.
Though it was mandatory for us to take the vaccine ( it was the first batch from Moderna) most of us were highly hesitant. But all of us took the jabs, most got sick, eventually caught the infection too. But no one died ( a close friend got the Modi variant, so did I. He had to be ventilated for few days, I had very high fever, but we all recovered)
No one can (and should not) force you to take the vaccine. But please don't spread the news articles as studies. Even the links given in these articles often do not work or land in another news article or some very poor irrelevant Ramdev style papers.
I'm not saying these are fake news, they may be proven correct later on, but we need to follow certain things which at present seem right and logical medically.
If you don't beleive in modern medicine, that's ok too. But don't disrespect people who do believe in it.

He seems unable to comprehend that vaccinated people getting infected are still in better situation than unvaccinated people who end up in critical condition, or worse, dead. So don't bother with him. I've already added him to my ignore list.

He's into conspiracy theories etc.which I find really fascinating. And TBH none of us really know how this thing started and what exactly is going on and what's the right approach.
 
I have taken one dose of covishield and recently got infected. I also have one of the comorbidity disease. Now almost recovered and had only minor symptoms

I can safely say that one dose of vaccine helped to keep the symptoms at bay and not aggravated to an extent where hospital may have been necessary, which most of the doctors and bmc ppl still recommended.

I started to ignore ppl who are against vaccine (a few of my educated close friends) long back, as to achieve herd immunity these few ppl doesn't matter. I would still recommend urge everyone to take vaccine. Prevention is better than cure

I would still strongly advise to follow covid protocol whether vaccinated or not.. Completely vaccinated ppl do get covid which includes my wife (2 doses of covaxin), but again only minor symptoms

That's not how it works. Anecdotal evidence is not equal to peer review studies. Thousands of people who have not taken a vaccine have also recovered without any major symptoms. Similarly, there are people who have also died despite having taken both doses. It depends on a lot of factors, including your immunity levels and in some cases on what medications you are already on, what will the severity of the infection be.

Yes, right now, it is good to take a vaccine shot as it does show benefits. But nothing is 100% conclusive just yet.

How many people died with vaccine and how many died without vaccines? There's massive difference between the two.

Also last sentence in your post is 100% bs. This type of thinking is promoting vaccine hesitancy.
 
I am fully vaccinated but I still feel we don't have enough data on efficacy of vaccines. We will know if they work by the end of the year. You should get it any ways as there is no harm in case it does not work.

Second that. Vaccinated death (around .004%!!!) vs unvaccinated death (1% in india, more in other countries eg 4.5% in USA) stats speaks more than our words. Let us encourage everyone to be safe (to take vaccine) than sorry.

More countries are open now due to vaccination.. Have a look at Eurocup matches & the crowd !
 
Kerala govt. provided early vaccination for those who have to travel outside for jobs, students with educational visa, health care reasons, etc. Vaccination certificates issued to them are with state govt.'s emblem /seal (two elephants and Ashoka stupa in the middle). Their vaccination data is not present in CoWin portal and causing issues to them. Allegations that central govt. portal not ready to recognize state govt. issued document or something like that.

Anybody from the state stuck in same situation found a solution to this ?

Two of my friends are stuck there and are planning to visit DMO to find a solution.

West Bengal is also issuing certificates with photo of Mamata Banerjee instead of Modi and Central Government could do nothing.
But the data should be there in the Cowin.

I have had both doses. Not an anti vaxxer. But I certainly believe that the numbers for breakthrough infections are utter nonsense. No data is being maintained. Every one is pulling numbers out of thin air. Some time ago, the planning commission guy said that the rate of breakthrough infections after one dose is 4/10000. Both my parents had got symptomatic covid after 30 days of first dose. This was around 2 weeks before the statement. The reason of this is no data is being tracked. Anyone can say anything to make the vaccines look good.

Also, the number of flip flops show that no one has got a clue. Everyone is shooting in the dark and making money along the way.

Then why did i take the vaccine. Just as there is a lot of covid fear porn, there is equal amount of vaccine fear porn. These vaccines wont kill anyone more than covid will. I dont know anyone who died die to the vaccine, but unfortunately knew many who were taken away by covid. But please dont believe everything that you read. Especially when the research methodology isnt made clear
