I just installed a corsair 120gb force 3 SSD on my intel dh67bl-b3 and shocked to see the poor performance of it. Am I missing something? It is supposed to have 500+ mb/s read speed! :@

I think you are running on sata 2. Only sata 3 supports 500+ speeds.. Check your motherboard configuration to verify whether it supports sata 3..

As per Intel website the board has 2 SATA 6GBps ports...... problem might be with the SATA drivers or the SSD is plugged into SATA 3GBps port.......

Change the test to 50mb and please post.

Also, whats the block size you have formatted to?

Did you do an image clone or just a clean install?

Check which port it is connected to...

Are you using a SATA3 cable as well....? as I am not sure if the sata2 ones are backward compatible.

I am assuming it is a brand NEW ssd....

Enable write cache if not done already....?

I did check the connections. It is on the SATA III port (blue) which is a 6Gb/s one. I also tried connecting on the SATA II port (black)... it is giving the same speeds.

I also tried connecting to the other SATA III port. No use.

I have updated the BIOS and installed latest drivers from the website. Though I did not find anything as 'SATA controller driver', I did update many drivers.

Chipset: Intel® Chipset Device Software for Intel® Desktop Boards - is this the one controlling SATA?

I can see 11 drivers here for Win 7 64 Bit - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Sea...top+Board+DH67BL&OSVersion=Windows+7,+64-bit*

HELP!

HELP!

Use other softwares to determine speed.......

Also do enable tht Write cache tht @Infected said...... but I am under the impression tht write cache is a feature only on Z68 boards.....

Since both the ports 6 and 3GBps r giving same speeds means some problem with drivers.....

I remember u had bought 2 of these drives..... chk with the other also if possible.....

follow these steps

1)check and make sure you are usuing the sata 3 (6gbps) port

2)make sure the cable is of good quality

3)check for the firmware update of the ssd

4)secure erase and re test

The SSD has latest firmware. 1.3.3

I tried the other drive on my bro's PC [Dell Studio XPS 7100]. It also has the same performance :(

I updated his SATA controller drivers as well.

Guess I have to RMA the drive. :@

Stumbled upon this:

Over the past several days, we have analyzed issues associated with the stability of our recently released 120GB Force Series 3 SSD (Corsair part number CSSD-F120GB3-BK). Our review has identified that a significant percentage of these drive do not operate to specification.

The recall was OLD news it was out like many months ago. If you bought this SSD I am sure you did some research,

I am amazed if you did not know about this and went ahead with the purchase. If I am not wrong the recall started about 2 months ago,

it is always advisable to read reviews and updates on hardware. Most of the reviews have been updated with the recall news.

Anyhow, now that all is said and done, and I am sure you will make much more informed purchase in the future.

Hope you get your new SSD asap.

:)

Problem solved. ATTO is inflating results and Corsair uses to advertise it :@

Here one can see the 550MB/s read, 510MB/s write speeds verified. ATTO’s benchmark is notorious for using compressed data so this is more like a max theoretical exercise that is widely used by SandForce drive manufacturers.

Now my real frustration, what is the use of going for SATA III?

My SATA II Kingston 64GB SSD gives a better read performance.

Also SATA III does not give any advantage for the Corsair Force III because it's performance does not need a SATA III pipe at all. I am getting the same performance on my SATA II port.

Corsair Force 3 ssd is same on sata II and sata III.

Anyway, I will try using ATTO benchmark and see if it the same on SATA II and SATA III.
