Hi all.....
I wanna play cs 1.6 online.
i have Airtel broadband connection with 1mbps speed....and running on windows xp.
The problem is that i get a very high ping on servers(on indian server also)
so they kick me.....any help to reduce the ping???

You yourself can't reduce your ping. BTW how high is your ping?

the only thing you can do is, try changing ur dns to google dns or open dns and/or stop any background apps like torrents etc.

Look for local servers (sort by distance) from - game-monitor.com and copy the URL and use "connect <ipaddress:port>" inside counter strike. Airtel's routing is different and sometimes only shows Chinese servers where you're ping will be high.

Its always over 250 even on indian servers

its about 500-1000 on foreign ones
are u running torrents or something while running your game..? if you are you should close it - also close any other unwanted apps (such as ant-virus etc, they might be updating in the background.)

i ve tried that

i close everything but it still doesnt work for me.....
If nothing is solving your problem, then you should call the Airtel customer care and tell them your problem, maybe they'll be able to help you.

I dnt think they ll be able to fix this.....

i dunno how this problem started coz 2-3 days ago my latency was good on indian servers it was <100

but its just today that it is above 200.......

I have faced a lotta that myself, but i have BSNL. Try waiting 2-3 days, i think the problem will be solved by itself, but if it persists, try contacting them once atleast, cause they'll be able to tell you whats wrong.
