Hi
I have recently had the chance to upgrade...(replace) my old PC.. phase wise (which I had planned one year back... Ahem).

I have bought pretty much what ALPHA17 and PC buying guide recommended, to start with

Processor Intel Core i5 3450
MotherboardGIGABYTE-B75-D3H
RAM Corsair Vengeance 4GB x2

I had observed that my Dell i5 vostro Laptop blows really hot air from the vents.
I also remember that Alpha17 had commented a few times that the intel stock cooler is not adequate.

So folks, please guide me on this. my budget is around 4000. I am looking for an air cooler only.
How about "Cooler Master V6GT RR-V6GT-22PK-R1 Air CPU Cooler"?

I have also ordered for CM k380 cabinet along with three 120mm fans from CM (120mm 90 CFM Blue, 120mm 90 CFM Red and Cooler Master R4-XFBL-22PR-R1 Cooling Fan).
In future i have planned for the following additions, (The next in line is the UPS and the last will be the monitor).
1. ZOTAC NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
2. Corsair CMPSU-650TX 650 Watts PSU

IMO, you won't need a 3rd party cooler if you don't over clock your cpu. Stock cooler is good enough for day to day tasks.
If you still want a new cooler, see the space available in your cabby first before buying. Else the cooler might be too tall or wide or touch ram sticks nearby.

Hi 6pack
First of all thanks for replying :)

Well, i am not going to overclock the CPU but i may be putting the PC thru a bit of gaming.
Actually, i am quite worried to see how much my i5 Laptop heats up!! Thus I am considering a cooler for the CPU of the PC. Can you please comment on the model I have mentioned in my previous post, considering that it will fit in the cabinet?

I am getting the CM k380 cabinet. Here is a link to a review of the same.

Why are you looking at your laptop to make a decision for your desktop CPU? In fact if your laptop is blowing really hot air, it means its doing a great job! Have you atleast measured your desktop temps first? :p Run Prime95 and use something like Realtemp to measure your temps.

Thanks, Crazy_Eddy.
You are right!... :p
i will check the CPU temps using the software you have recommended and update you.
btw, right now the cabinet i am using has no covers on both sides..hehehe.. so the CPU should not feel claustrophobic and get hot!:dummy:
----updated----

i used the RealTemp Application
PC CPU max is 48 deg C with very little activity ongoing (net)
I also checked my Laptop; it is at 53 deg C with similar activities (outlook and net)
(pl don't ask me about what is running in background :spitoutdummy: )

Hi
Sorry for the delay, Crazy_Eddy. I Got the game from Flipkart yesterday... then i discovered something which .. err..well i had forgotten earlier.:spitoutdummy:
the LCD from Viewsonic VE510b (about five years old) does a max of 600 x 800 or something resolution.. so the end result was very comical.
I could see the cars in GTA but the flyovers etc. were not visible at all.. so cars were all moving in thin air (blue background)..:asshat: I think now i have to start a new thread on a monitor.. in the meantime i will check the temps of the CPU and update you in a few days :writing:

Hi Crazy_Eddy.
I check the temps while playing GTA; it is heating a shade below 60 deg..note that I did not play for very long.. maybe about 5-10 minutes since the GFX is not good.
