  • Q: What is your budget?
    • 15K
  • Q: What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
    • CPU - Intel E6750
    • Motherboard - Some asrock cheapo
    • GPU - 8800gt
    • RAM - DDR 2-3gb(looks thats dying.Getting BSOD frequently)
    • Monitor - samsung 17 incher
    • SMPS - Corsair VX550
    • (please mention the rest in above format)
  • Q: Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)

Changing only the 3 components presently and next step would be gfx but not presently

  • Q: Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.

As my ram looks to be dying ill go for ddr 3 but for that changing cpu and mobo becomes must.I wanted high end system but the oldie i5 generation are being quoted at 9-11k.And i am not ready to shelve more than 7k on a cpu .

So looking for a setup which can last untill ivy bridge or next generation amd launches.

AMd or intel any combo will do.But performance for time being should be faster than e6750 by 25%.

Mobo must have 4 slots for ram,one pci-e slot and more than 4 sata ports.

Ram please suggest which works with the model so no conflict arises.
  • Q: Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component

Upgrading gpu and monitor later and by 2013 end new high end setup(almost 30k budget) only for cpu and mobo.
  • Q: Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)
    • Mumbai
    • Open to online purchase

  • Q: Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market
    • Yes ...but only for cpu.Ill prefer buying mobo and ram new.

  • Q: What is your intended use for this PC/hardware
    • Gaming
    • Browsing
    • Desktop Processing
    • HTPc
    • Watching HD movies
    • Learning animations

  • Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.
    • Do not want to buy Asus product at all. Also would prefer gigabyte mobo.
  • Q: If you will be playing games then which type of games will you be playing?

CS,call of duty
  • Q: What is your preferred monitor resolution for gaming and normal usage
    • Gaming - 1280x728
  • Q: Are you looking to overclock?

    • 30% to capacity but mostly software and i do have after market coller from noctua nh d14
  • Q: Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
    • Windows 7 64 bit

Hmm.Gigabyte mobo option. Also any amd alternative.

Also planning for 2 4 gb memory stick.

Graphic card will remain the same for time being. Not changing that.

Just saw gigabyte mobo have just 2 ram slots.

So again intel comes into picture.

Are there any amd combo around the same price range which almost offer same performance as this i3 in phenom x6 one?

Also will this same mobo work with ivy bridge? If so than what about OC picture still this mobo will be term a bottleneck?

I most possibly will cancel this upgrade. As now ivy bridge looks to be round the corner.

But still suppose i go for upgrade and suppose i go for i5 2500 than how much increase in performance ill see over i3 2100?

I guess in some benchmark i saw almost 50% increase in performance.

I am just delaying upgrade. But if BSOD problem continues than ill have to go with this upgrade on urgent base and than will miss ivy bridge all together as i go for alternate platform upgrade.

Last year i was almost certain to go for amd bulldozer but it failed badly and i delayed the upgrade till ivy bridge.
