Hi guys,

Planning on upgrading my pc..Required advice for a good Amd based configuration..

Was thinking about

Cpu-:Amd 3000+ S939 Venice core (Or 3200)

Mobo-:Asus A8N-VM or A8N-VM CSM (if it fits i my budget)..or any better Msi Board with integrated Graphics..(I require intergrated graphics ..am not planning to buy a graphics card)

Have 2 Hard disks IDE 80 +40 Gb..and A cd writer and a Dvd writer..

So please suggest a board which supports 4 IDE devices..i don't haveany Sata Harddisks..so Sata support not required( buts provided anyway in most of the boards nowdays..)

Guys waiting eagerly for your advice..

^^All the boards you mentioned above support 4 IDE drives. If you can afford the CSM, get it else get the MSI board.

I think going for a Asus A8N-VM CSM is a better choice, 3000+ Venice Should suffice your needs.

I am not aware of current 3000+ prices but last time i inquired,it was hovering in the range of 6-6.5k

Board should be around 5k.
Donno exactly.

VM : Geforce 6100 Northbridge + nForce 410 Southbridge

VM CSM: Geforce 6150 Northbridge + nForce 430 Southbridge

6150 Northbridge has higher clocks for the GPU compared to the 6100, and also supports additional features like TV-out, DVI-out, HDTV support.

430 Southbridge offers 4 SATA ports vs 2 SATA on the 410, More RAID options (RAID 0+1, 5), Gigabit LAN and nVidia's ActiveArmor Firewall.

How is a MSI K8NGM2-FID as compared to the Asus boards....Whats its price in delhi..does it have linux support??

MSI K8NGM2-FID is definitely better than ASUS A8N-VM CSM in terms of features, heat dissipation and also Bios Stability. Availlibility might be a problem at the moment.

dude, that aint true,
the msi may have slightly better than asus in terms of heat, but asus got more features, and msi bios stablity is crappy, my frnds got some and its blown its cmos chips to smithereens.

asus is not an overclocker (no vcore options and fsb wont go beyond 230), but stability at stock settings is rock solid.

id say dont even think abt the msi.

one board to beat the asus is the foxconn 6150k8ma, but i last heard that it will come in march, (rolling reply - changes every month into delays. lol) and i dunno abt its warranties.

I wonder why nobody is talking about the Biostar 6100-M9 board. Raghu mentioned that it could be cross-flashed to the Biostar TForce BIOS (which is almost identical to this board), and it overclocks pretty well too. There has been quite a bit of mention about it on the XS forums as well , which would imply the board does have some magic in it :)

Sure the msi availability is a big problem plus it does have some bios issues..checked in a lot of forums..when i was searching for a mobo for my cousin's rig..

I think the CSM wud be the ideal choice if you wanna use it at stock speeds..not an ideal board if you wanna OC..and dont think about the A8N-vm..not worth it..:)

^^ is that board is available here eddy as one of mine frens was serching for that and the dealer said it is not available here :(

yep its available here. Rs.3975.

Guys please keep in mind biostar = krypton. They are OEM partners. So also ask for Krypton 6100-M9.

Model no is same.

Atleast in mumbai it is. Mnemonic had replied zhopudey that they have it for Rs.3975.
