i have a budget of 9k expanding upto 11k max...

earlier i have been suggested 4800+ + 780 gigabyte board.. just wanted to take your opinion again considering price drops....

needs:
cpu + mobo + cooler (if needed...)

i have a 8600gt + mce card + 5.1 speakers + 4gb ram (i am buying)

use:
moderate gaming
moderate programming and graphics
some encoding occasionally
24x7 operation
good after sales support
please dont suggest the best available in this price range.. suggest to my needs.... even if it cost me 7k.. it will be sweet...:hap2: :hap2:

Its quite stable...both are superb overclockers...Biostar P45 is newer chipset...P35 is absolute now....P45 has PCIE 2.0 compared to 1.1 on P35....if u still want cheaper solution get get biostar TP35A2-D7 costs approx 4K...its good stable board...so here it goes Bio P45>>Abit IP35E>Biostar P35.....

@aftersales actually i dont have that much idea....ask experts here...usually its through dealer from whom u purchase ur board....

7k is a little over budget for me... especially since the mobos are outdated pretty fast....

Is another alternative available?? i dont want to compromise on features and stability... on the other hand i wont overclock much... hitting 3ghz min would do...

can u suggest a board and cooler accordingly..??? how much can i get with the stock cooler??

the stock on 7200 is 2.53... max i want to overclock is 3 or 3.2... remember it also has to act as a 24x7 rig...

so do i need a extra cooler or stock is fine.... also i could not find a godo review of p45.. can someone point me to it... all i could get were short reviews... no details...

its been long time i have used intel platform...

p45 boards are a little expensive at the moment

i would say go for a p35 and an arctic cooling freezer 7 pro

no need to spend over 2k on a cooler if you run a dual core

again i wont overclock at the moment over 3ghz.. can i suffice with stock cooler to cut down on prices.. will invest later if needed...

1. what is the diff between p45 and p35 in terms of stability and features.

2. i have a powersafe 400watts gold. can it handle this config

7200 + p35/45 board + 4gb ram + 8600gt + 2 x 500gb hdd + tvtuner + soundcard + dvdrw

???

you can try with the stock cooler and tell us the temps...then decide whether or not to go for the better cpu cooler....

the psu can handle the config

as for the chipset, the p45 is just an evolution of the p35...not much of a difference..both are good

i would recommend a p35 board for the budget conscious :)

1.P45 has more overclocking features n it has PCIE 2.0

2.Yes PS400W GOld should handle it quite easily

No cooler reqd till 2.8ghz get artic silver mx2(beware some give price tag of 450 but its availble for 325 so do some searching) n enjoy .........

^^almost all p35 boards can do 450+ fsb

and in everyday use, you dont need that much

and 8600gt is not pcie 2.0 :P

my comp is running at 375fsb for 3ghz, and reviews say that my mobo will do 480fsb which i will never require

Sidhu sir, you advocate not using good cooler while OCing?

hey meant to say he'll let him know the best cooler to cut down prices....dont take it in some other way....

get P35 chipset

P45 has not much to offer you seeing price diffrence.

& yes 8600GT is PCIE 1 so no need of pcie2 ........n also pcie2 GPU'S run on PCIE 1 slot so no need to worry about that .

proccy : E7200

if u really want cooler locally then ,THERMALRIGHT ULTRA 120 EXTREME .
it would be better to get cooler for CPU afterwards .

400W is enough considring 8600GT .

---------------------
i think you can cut budget & get 630i chipset mobo ..........but it's no good good at OvCERCLoCKING .......as per ur need it's ur descision .

okie will buy 7200 and 4gb ram kingston...

about the mobo, should i go for abit p35 or biostar p35??

prime does not have biostar in stock at the moment..

4GB RAM and that too Kingston. :S

E7200
Abit IP35E or Asus P5Q or maybe some vfm P45 mobo
(i will stay away from Biostar TP35D2A7)
2x1GB Transcend 800 or cheapest Gskill 800
If getting 4GB, get 2x2GB Transcend DDR2 800 with 'P' on the sticker. :P

Ideally, stay at stock speeds on the stock cooler for now, that E7200 will be way faster than anything you ever used.
OC later when you buy a good cooler and most importantly, a good psu.
You should really be looking at getting a Corsair VX450 for your kinda use if you don't have one already. :)

Since you will be doing 24x7 almost, keep it at stock and use that EIST etc.
You do spend a lot of time downloading iirc. :P

Do check out reviews on OCZ Vanquisher- 1275/- +shipping with Phoenix.
Freezer7 is a great performer, was decent vfm at 1500/- with KMD but now 1750/- making TRultima90i a better option with any cheapo fan and more than enough for dualies.

:)

hi bikey...

4gb i meant 2 x 2gb sticks... even transcend would do for me... what does the sticker P symbolizes..??? help the noob here..

will take cooler later... why u suggest to stay away from biostar p35... is abit better than biostar..???

Build quality on Biostar TP35D2A7 is way inferior to most mobos- even if you take an A8NE as a standard.
The pcb is much thinner and flexes/bends insanely atthe top edge near the cpu socket area when using a stock intel cooler.
Even Abit flex but not as wildly.
My hatred for the stock intel cooler revived recently when i used one on an IP35 Pro and feared i would almost kill that board with all that flex. :(

Pair that with 3-phase VRM compared to 4-phase for Abit and higher on newer P5Q series.

The plastic used for dimms/PCI slots is tacky.

It's full ATX but doesn't have the third column of screw holes as pcb is smaller.

I will avoid them for quality compromises.

IP35E has that double boot issue which many dread will kill their hdds but i have no idea what it actually is and i don't think there is a fix as people juggle between various bioses to fix it.
Some people/gurus are using IP35E with OCed quads since almost last year and i don't know if they had issues.
And since you will be running it almost 24x7, what double boot. :P

A discretely located 'P' on Transcend RAM indicates Powerchips ICs that OC better afaik.
'N' indicates Micron iirc.
Read it in some posts on TE itself but you will have to search for them or wait for the gurus to reply here.
Check Nikhil's new rig showoff thread- mentioned there too iirc.
