Not sure about the arcing part, but most of us have studied about Differential Metal corrosion in Engineering Chemistry. The theory states that metals with different electrode potentials, in contact with each other, increase the overall rate of corrosion. If you were considering this as a potential cause for corrosion, then you must also consider the effects of Stress corrosion, i.e bending of the pins.
