Four and a half hour Creative video shocker reviewed

BACK AT CES 2006 Creative Labs announced the Zen Vision M device. The device has been available in Euroland for some time and we know that Creative is selling them quite well and the company had some shortages. Today they are available in multimedia stores. This very saucy and functional player will cost you below €350 but will do all you want it to do.

Zen Vision M is a 30GB MP3 video player that will copy with just about anything that you can play on the Windows media player. As a matter a fact you transfer and organise the files using Media Player 10. If you have the previous version it won't work but the upgrade is fast and easy. We have to say that it will play all sorts of movies as well. The player has a hard drive that enables you to store a lot of data on it.

which one would u choose ?

The ipod..... coz suddenly it seems fashionable to be anti-ipod..... Me is bucking the trend :Dlol... j/k. I would go for the Creative definitely. It is simply awesome....

Are the people you go out with gonna listen to your mp3 player? NO!
If you are gonna use it, buy one which has lot of features and what YOU find useful!
If you want something supermodel-thin, go for the iPod.
If you dont mind a bit of flesh (and lots of features ;) ) go for the Zen Vision:M!

@Nikhil: Dude, You go for "fashion", i go for "needs" :D

@Akshitmohan: Colour-> ipod 65K colours, Vision:m 2,62K colours.
supports mpg, divx, wmv, etc. Initially i thought i wouldnt need all these, but hell i use it as much for video as audio!!

Direct transfer of media to a PC with WinXP+SP2.

Just read my review to get a better idea.

One thing that bugs me is as the vision:m isnt as widely used, it doesnt have the numerous hacks as the ipod does.
So if you are into fiddling around with your player with all hacks and stuff, go for the ipod.

Vince..... you didnt select my first post and read it :P

@Akshit ---- Read Vince's review.... you can so clearly make out the difference between the screens of the ipod and the Zen.... it is simply superb.

And I for one miss the customisable EQ in the ipod.... Got extremely used to it in the iriver.

And the bass on the ipod is pathetic.

Nikhil: LOL, sorry, i didnt realize you'd written in WHITE :)

@Akshitmohan:
Ipod 30 gb-> 103.5 x 61.8 x 11mm Weight: 136g
Creative Zen Vision M-> 104 x 62 x 18.6mm Weight: 163g
(er.. hope the above data is correct)

Well I think the creative definately has an edge over I-pod ! Better Looks , Better Features etc...... Is it goin to be available in INDIA ?

The Zen Vision M is available in Mumbai @ ALFA , did see it when i went to check out the Canon S2 IS Dcam , the creative was sitting next to it.

@Quadmaster: could you ask someone to find the price please?

@Bluffmaster:I emailed the Creative Dealer in Chennai. He said it was Rs.28000.
I bought it for $320 (=Rs.14500) (via a friend from the US)

@Akshitmohan: Not REALLY REALLY heavy.. hmm. tough question.
Its heavier than the ipod. to me, it feels twice as heavy.
Bad analogy, but the Vision:M weighs a little more than a bar of soap. The IPod weighs like half a bar of soap.
I dont mind the vision:m's thicker size and weight because
1) i dont wear jeans.
2) i like to know WHERE my mp3 player is, so i can feel my pocket and know its there.
3) i sleep with my mp3 player on. I've woken up a number of times to find my mp3 player under my head or back.. the vision:M seems sturdier to me because of its thickness, but i think both mp3 players are of equal strength :)
4) if you're a girl you most probably will not like it
ATTN GIRLS/LADIES: If any girl here wants to buy a HDD mp3 player, go for the iPod. I'm not joking. Coz girls like (electronic) gadgets to be thin and light. and easier to fit into their hands/palms.
Though the Vision:M has the same length and width as the iPod, its thickness is higher.
GUYS: Its just a teensy-weensy bit heavier. You go to the gym for work outs, but you cant pick up something thats like 160 grams?? thats just 30 GRAMS more than an iPod?

Thats all i gotta say about dimensions.
