Hi,

Just wanted to know if the Creative SBS A35 2.0 Speakers are a good buy.

I am not an audiophile and the only purpose of the speakers will be for listening to a couple (4-5) of mp3 songs once a week or so.

I liked them coz they are small and don't take up as much space as my SBS A335 that I rarely use.

Thanx in Advance.

:)

Should be decent enough, try asking the shop keeper to let you plug it in and have a quick listen :P
Thanx... :)

But I plan to order it online... So, no plug and listen before I buy.

The SBS A35 is one of the budget speakers from Creative. Apparently these speakers fall in the same market range that is filled with those little plastic speaker boxes that hardly sound anything decent and the woofers tears itself to shreds in a few months. That is where the negative thoughts end. Creative has pulled off a reasonably admirable job with these pair. Out right it claims to be 2 watts RMS. Understandably these speakers are not meant to be the center of entertainment system. As a sound outlet for a desktop system of an office or a home system where users will not demand ear shattering sound, the A35 will do just fine.

So what is it like?

Physically they are light weight, and look wise they appear reasonably friendly. Sound wise - well you get your 2 Watts worth and then some! There is no real bass as such but there is plenty of loudness, enough that you might have to scream should you want to talk over the sound that these speakers can make. The treble is also touch a bit weak, however the sound quality is clear enough. And as for the functional features, there is the power and volume, and that's it.

Now, we had the privilege of using these speakers for our own office. They were good choice as they hardly take up much power thus are a bit green too. And more importantly, over the months and months of use, the sound quality did not deteriorate. When we unpacked a new pair the old ones were comparably equal in sound loudness and quality.

All up, for a pair costing below $20, there probably are not many speakers out there to match. As for the long term usability, the A35 lived up the the name of its manufacturer - CREATIVE

I got them for 279 Shipped from Letsbuy (I am the OP in case you haven't noticed) using the 300 off coupon (MRP 529/-) and they are extremely VFM for that price.

No Chinese speaker set can come close to this one. Not even iball that is supposedly a good brand.

hey! hows the sound quality? I am planning to buy 1 from letsbuy as well.. Just tell me how much better it is in comparison to the built-in laptop speakers? (compared to the dell xps 15 inbuilt speakers and other laptops)

^^ I am guessing they will be anytime better than inbuilt laptop speaker unless you have some harman kardon or Altec Lansing speakers in your laptop (yes some laptops do advertise having those big name speakers). But for better and most importantly louder sound they are perfect companion IMO.

I wanted to go for them but the fact that they are not USB and power outlet based was a downer. :(

Btw Neha, can you tell if the sound tears at high volume ?? Are they too big ??

OT: There was this thread on USB speakers somewhere but i dont remember where and cannot find, can anyone point me that ??
