Credit card recommendations?

thats 3.5k on one lakh of spending and you'll almost spend atleast double if its a trip to Europe or something, a 0% forex card is worth it imo
I think you misunderstood, 1lakh I mentioned is the total budget for the trip including flight ticket, hotel costs etc. If one is spending extra lakhs on the trip for buying or other stuff then it could be worth it provided it's a card that works.

maybe its my cheap ass, but I'm happy if I save even 500Rs :D, but yeah it depends from person to person

It's best to use our own Bank cards. The foreign trips easily cost above 1 lakh, it's worth spending extra 3.5% and be at peace.
I ended up doing the same. I have an SBI Elite card which charges 1.9% forex fee, and since my wife was the traveller, I got a free add-on card. The entire trip went smoothly with complete peace of mind, and she was able to use it without a single issue.

That's a good card, I thought every bank card charges 3.5%.

Agreed, if a free forex card is reliable then it's a good add on

returning to this thread in 2025 - How is the Pixel Play card from HDFC? Any users? how has the experience been?
Avoid, there are better CCs to get. See if you have offer for LTF Swiggy HDFC. Get that instead. I have it as a paid card, still worth it for me. Get some ICICI CC, like walk into ICICI branch, get ICICI Platinum as LTF, use it for online ICICI offers, later get Amazon ICICI CC.

Can also look at SBI Cashback & HSBC Live+ CC via cashkaro for 2k cashback, making it effectively free for 2 years.

Have amazon pay icici and something called an ICICI coral, LTF. I have been noticing that SBI cards have good offers so was keen on one but past experience with their customer (un)care has left me with cold feet. SBI has no LTF cards is my understanding. Would SBIsimplyclick be a decent choice for primarily online purchases? Also, having a HDFC savings account means that I can look at HDFC. HDFC has been sending SMSes for some LFT card (dunno which one). Guess HDFC freedom or moneyback+ would be fine too. Between the two which one do you suggest? I am not keen on paying annual fees as far as possible or paying less than 1000 bucks annually if the need arises. Am a person keen on debit cards as much as possible but CCs are sometimes unavoidable in today's life, sadly.

SBI cashback CC costs 1k (as mentioned, check cashkaro & apply via them), great benefits but won't work on sale offers like on amazon or FK, so will need something else like SimplyClick CC (its benefits aren't good).

HDFC moneyback+ as LTF is ok for a core HDFC card. Swiggy CC is better than it, again it might not work on sales with HDFC offers, so better to get the former as well as Swiggy.

If you are disciplined, you can reap benefits from CCs.

Two findings of the day - HDFC doesn't allow to apply for HDFC Millennia card or any of the low fees cards even if you have pointedly applied clicking the 'apply for this card' button. They will lead you to a page where they will show only those cards that THEY want to show NOT what I want to see. In this case, it was the regalia gold, the infamous pixel play and something else with 10K yearly fees + GST. This kind of legendary shit happens only in India? Why have you put a 'apply now' next to a card if you are actually not going to allow me to apply for that card? It is like that electronics shop guy who will show you every other thing but the model or brand that you want to buy. 2. Applied via SBI sprint platform and got rejected for Simplyclick card due to "internal policies". SBI doing SBI things I guess. Apart from screwing up my CIBIL score and ruining precious time, nothing happened.

Amazon ICICI CC if you can get it. But my advise is don't use credit cards unless you're using it to pay recurring bills.
Bills have the least value out of all payments
