Pretty awesome stuff for a first time.

You got a higher res version so that the finer details are visible?

^ proportions area bit off on the jaw, if you are bent on digital painting, try Corel Painter, the brushes and flow are awesome.. and you have an option to use water colors and dry the canvas.. it pretty much gives you the traditional painting effect too.

for photoshop..I Suggest you go download brushes from imagineFX .. if i remember right they had martha dahlig's brushes too.

I have to run right now.. so ill give you a more detailed feedback tonight.

@Speedz, it's one of my first attempts - not the very first. The graphics tab took a while getting used to. & the image posted is the only size I've got. Like I said, I worked in 'fit to screen' zoom mode in PS for the most part without really bothering about the document size - & this is the result. So can't post any high res pic of the same.

@SoMxNemesis, I will try out Corel Painter a bit later. PS just seems easier to start with. For Painter, the options are many & I'll have to learn a bit about each one to get started, I think. PS, I feel like I can just jump into it straight off without really requiring to know each tool & it's options. [That's just the feel I get at this point of time. Maybe, my opinion will change once I've had an experience with both].

Thanks for your feedback, you guys. Keep 'em coming.

you can set dpi in PS when you create a new image...
Width, Height....Somwhere down you should be able to see Resolution.
96 for web images, 300 for various prints...I dunno about digital painting...

Thanks. I guess I should be thinking in terms of inches for the document size & then follow your guidelines for the dpi.

@PiXeLpUsHeR, thanks for the encouragement. Need to practice a whole lot more.

I was hoping on getting more feedback, especially on specific areas I need to improve upon, but I guess the limited res of the image makes it difficult to judge the details & hence more constructive criticism is not possible. So hopefully, I'll be able to update the thread with something better pretty soon have knives & daggers come flying right at me. :P

Till then :cool2:

Very nice stuff, nice usage of blending layers....(I like the Batman sig ;) ) shows much improvement with PS... keep it up :D

@kidrow - awesome man....keep posting!!!!!!!!!!

Me gettin a wacom bambooo nxt week.. hope will post sm workz soooner or later

^^ both of the above ... very nice work :)

If I was being completely nit-picky, I would say that there is not enough tonal range and the darks need to be darker.

ur very well in useing of tools

one suggestion if u can give both input and output then its also good

means source pic and updated pic

Well, the "renders" I've linked to are the "source image". Basically, the renders refer to cut outs created from wallpapers & other artwork by members of various forums.

@toxic, typography is one of the hardest aspects to nail & I agree with you ..... Still learning :ashamed:

excellent work there!

But if i was to be really "nit picky" about things, then id say you need a little more depth in your pics.

And as PP put it, needs a lot of tone adjustment. Heres an idea, if you are able to give more depth to the image in the Bg and highlight the brush strokes a bit more, maybe that would help.

Just a thought. :) cheers!

Thanks to all those who have responded for the comments & advice & the words of encouragement. Much appreciated!

Will be posting updates in the Show Off sticky from here on. Hope to see you there. & many thanks once again. Signing off....
