A guide on using a JB PS3 to run backups and transfer games to the internal HDD using the FTP app
~*~ This requires you to have Jailbroken PS3 and be connected to a wired or wireless network ~*~
1.) Download the files from the below link and copy the extracted content to the root of your flash drive.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1P0NPQP2
Connect the flash drive to your PS3 after it has been JB and on the XMB navigate to "Game >> Installed Packagesâ€
2.) Install Backup Manager and the blackb0x FTP 1.1 app.
Navigate to "Game Menu" and select the option "Install Package Files".
Select"manager.pkg" which will install Backup Manager and then select "ftpserver_11.pkg" which will install blackb0x FTP 1.1 for you.
Using FTP app:
3.) Launch the PS3 FTP Server by navigating to it in the XMB and pressing X. (Note, if you get a black screen right after you launch PS3 FTP Server, then you must put one original PS3 game in the drive)
Once you see the FTP Server window, look at the top and you will see an IP Address.
Write this down as you will need this information when you try and connect with your PS3 from your computer.
4.) Download and install
FileZilla or any other PC FTP client of your choosing/
5.) Once you have downloaded and installed it to your computer, notice at the top area of FileZilla are blank spaces under “Host Nameâ€, “Usernameâ€, “Passwordâ€, and “Portâ€.
You will need to put the information you saw from the PS3 FTP Server onto this boxes. Leave the User name and password fields as blank. After filling in the Host Name (PS3 IP Address) and Port Number (21), hit “Quick Connectâ€
At this point, you should have connected to your PS3 and various folders must be displayed like dev_flash, dev_flash2, dev_flash3 and dev_hdd0. etc...
6.) I'm assuming that you have already extracted a PS3 game from it's original RAR form and now you have a directory named e.g. BLES01059 (Fifa 11)
Transfer the Fifa 11 folder to this path ‘dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/‘ so now it looks like ‘dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/ BLES01059‘.
If the folder "LAUN12345" & "GAMEZ" don't exist for you, then simply create them.
7.) Quit the app once the files have been transferred and return to the XMB.
Using Backup Manager:
8.) Launch the Backup Manager by navigating to it in the XMB and pressing X. (Please ensure that there is a PS3 game disc in the drive at this point of time).
9.) The app will launch and sect "Yes" at the disclaimer screen. Once done, you will be presented with a list of games in the internal HDD and the BD game that you have inserted into the drive.
10.) You can either navigate to the game you want to run and hit [X] or install the game from the drive by navigating to it and selecting [O]. Additionally you can also delete games by selecting [/\] on the controller.
11.) When installing you have an option of selecting the internal hdd or an external hdd. Pretty basic stuff.
12.) Once you hit [X] on one of the listed games, the app will quit and you will be back on the XMB. But now under the BD disc icon you will have the game that you selected instead of the game that is present in the drive.
