Now christian groups want the Da Vince code to be banned in India, one more case of the converted trying to be purer than the pure; so I may not be able to watch it in India while my church-going firangi friends in U.S.A. will watch the flick and enjoy their popcorn while they are at it on the 19th.:@

HUH is it, cause last heard a group comprising of various catholics have cleared the film but making it compulsory show the disclaimer that everything is fictional.

WHAT!!! Is it really banned??? DAMN!!! Thought my friend was fooling around with me!!! Oh fukkk!!! I soooo badly wanted to watch that movie!!!

It's bound to be banned in more than a few European countries too... not surprised why it's banned here.

ya i too saw it in news. but it seems the catholic group have already seen the movie when its not even been released. maybe the directors and producers should sue the catholics group ppl for movie piracy...

And i still dont get it. its just an adaptation of a fiction. so why all this uproar...:S

If u read the book, its not all fiction, the distinction being it attacks the Church, the roman cathlic church in particular, but not Christ.

Anyone , even devout Christians, know that the modern Church and bible are based on the political convenience of the roman emperor Constantine not the true to word teachings of Christ.

16th May ed of Mumbai Mirror says that the movie has been cleared by the 5 member committe appointed by various catholic groups...they however want that , at the start it shld be clearly mentioned that the movie is a work of fiction...

So i guess we are gonna watch the movie afterall

Movie banned in India? I hope it does release somehow!
Didn't knew christian influence was so strong here.
Anyways, if it really is bannedm they should make it up by releasing the DVD soon. "Edited"

@undertaker, its purely fiction only that he has made use of facts in the book to make it more dramatic. If its a work of fiction then how can you say it is against catholics

Its a matter of putting religious history as it is, the film pulls no punches when it comes to that, kind of but not exactly like our scriptures mentioning Sita was 'abducted' by Ravana but not 'raped' by him.

but think a little dude religion is a man made object atleast thats what is there in the movie. This is one interpretation and other is by saying that dan brown is trying to degrade the values of religion. Since its a work of fiction anything can happen in the story whether it is religious or non religious.

No matter what the movie will release in India...They are not going to cut anything..although the mandatory disclaimer will be put up.

Talking about news..Just some days back I read an article in the newspaper where a man had announced a reward of 11 lacs to whoever brings Dan Brown to him DEAD or ALVE... How childish can a person get??

It's fictitious theory based on certain facts that were uncovered... never did he imply that his version is right, he's just presenting the facts leaving it upto readers to frame their own opinions and decide whether to believe or not.

^^

That just shows you the illiteracy rate in India.

It has nothing to do with literacy... do you think if someone makes a movie with disruptive, alternate theories on hinduism that questions the faith of hindus, it will get released that easily? Religion is religion, no matter which one... and this censorship is proof that all will be treated equal.
