I also tried Ketoconazole which helps in reducing dandruff but only effective as long as you are using it.. Well i am gonna try Johnson's Baby Shampoo.

there is a shampoo called "Scaple" which my doc had suggested to me...it works like charm :)

lol!! I got dandruff sometimes (obviously when not taking bath for weeks :P, happens in college ) but two days of shampoo use gets them off.

yeah get hair cut, use herbal things (shikakai powder + mulatani mitti + egg(not sure, my mom used to make :) ), I would say this thing will work better then any shampoo out their. You won't see immediate effect but after a week or so you will notice it.

a doc will suggest nizoral/scalpe or any other such shampoo (the pink coloured ones)
didnot work for me though :(

There is a medicated shampoo prescribed by doctors call SCALPE which is very effective in controlling dandruff, use it once or twice a week depending on severity and you should see a change.

How long do you leave the oil in before washing ?

Best to leave it overnight. If it's not possible then say 1 or 2 hours before you bathe. Use a gentle shampoo for your hair. Johnson's Baby Shampoo is good.

I had been suffering from chronic dandruff and dandruff associated hairfall for a long time.

I recently visited a dermatologist who has prescribed a few medical shampoos.

She has also prescribed a few medication's for hair growth(minoxidil) and some vitamin tablets.

In a months time my dandruff problem has almost gone.

IMHO u must visit a dermatologist and take proper medication.

There is a Anti dandruff Shampoo called Nuetriderm ..its an import from australia..A doc from apollo chennai suggested it and bought it from appollo pharmacy.
The one which i bought in chennai which looked creamy white did wonders and got visible reduction in dandruff immedietly..then i came to delhi and dandruff came back after 6 months ..ordered one through a local medical shop in delhi. but here it was clear liquid rather than creamy white and after regular use also no change...suspect it to be a duplicate.

Either Delhi is a capital for dupers or am a easy prey to get duped as i have also been duped for around 3k from palika bazaar :@...

The point is get the shampoo with creamy liquid if you can, as it really is good..or visit a good dermatologist...

Try this shampoo called "ANTIDRUF" , its manufactured by us (my company) and I've personally used it and got really good results.

Also, if anyone's used this product, comments are welcomed. Will help us improve the product further.

Myself, facing severe problems earlier saved myself with the following routine:

a) Use Selsun shampoo from Abbot Labs (it smells bad). Use 3 times in first week, then reduce to once in a week, then depend up on your requirement.
b) User Parashoot Anti Dandruff cream mildly every day.
c) Use 3 to 4 drops of Dettol in bathing water.

Hope this helps...

see this goodakash ?

Thing with the shampoos recommended here is unless you know what you're using and for how long it can cause more problems. I feel there's no way to avoid a trip to the dermatologist.

As the thread title asks, were you cured ? anyone

Have no treatment

But ya stay away from ads shampoo like head and shoulder.....i used to use it daily as it was effective and used to make hair silky...later found it bleached lot of my hairs and now i get white hairs because of it

ya also it will be better to keep your head oiled as dandruff is nuthin but dead skin of head.....But ya most people hate the smell even of coconut saying chameli dur hut......better idea will b to deodise/perfume hair too..lolz

I have a similar problem...the scalp especially breaking off and then...I finally decided to listen to Mom, now she regularly applies a special coconut oil (coconut oil+ nimboo+some white seeds heated in a oil)recipe on my scalp..she painfull scans and applied exactly on the scalp..takes about 15mins, but my condition is so much more better. Previously I had tried everything from AD Shampoos to a trichologist who told me to apply an medicinal foam..I wasn't so religious with the foam(it did seem to work though) n stopped cause I didn''t feel like spending 250 bux / month.

So moral of the story is ask your mother, I must admit mommy knows best :-)
